Definitely need to drain them. My post was just a solution in general, I didn't think it would be for your solution.I researched the portable units for awhile and decided against it. The main reason is I am very limited with space. The other delt with drainage. Some units said it was required and some said it wasn't, but everyone I spoke to said you needed drainage, I wanted to stay away from adding another hole.
My trailer has 4" inlet/outlet hose fittings already built in, so I wanted to take advantage of them.

But, a perspective on ideas. So on "Fiberglass" group were retro fitting regular small AC on floors in closet or like. If the RV AC dies in my Scamp it will be replaced that way.I have a Frigidaire that basically never needs drained. Every time I've checked it, I get about a thimbles worth of water. Even after running for a couple weeks non stop.I researched the portable units for awhile and decided against it. The main reason is I am very limited with space. The other delt with drainage. I think you meant WD bars. Right?...I take my sway bars off when I hit a trail so I don't snap one and my back end sags like crazy as soon as I do...
I love the way you lined up the tree in the woods with the pic of tree behind Yeti.![]()

NuCamp Tab 400 Boondock. Currently up for sale since we almost always go further off road and use the tent for camping.
That's a very cool solution. I'll post pics soon of my '62 Airstream which I put a small window ac in, if needed.Very nice rig. I plan to pull my 67 Scotty from time to time. For the A/C on it, I simply cut a hole that my very small 5000 btu unit would fit thru, and hinged a return air vent on a piece of allucobond. I bungee it to the roof and slide the ac out from its foldable shelf. 2 minutes tops.![]()

Gorgeous truck... Love the GT! I had a '61 Bambi for several years, and started out with a '70 Safari Special 23' in 1987. You have found THE magic way to travel! The trailer we have now is a 23FB wearing Globetrotter trim. It still confuses me 'cause when I think of a GT, I think of yours. This is my 1962 Airstream GT. My 1st time towing it with my '23 JT was when I drove from Phx to ID to pick up my beautiful truck from Peterson. Towed the Airstream up with my Xterra & then back home with my JT. Great trip, she tows like a dream. AS is only 3500lbs loaded. I use WD hitch and sway bar & since my 40 gal of water is in front, make sure water is full to help with tongue weight. I have 1 solar panel on roof and take another 200 w portable to charge 1 Battleborn Lithium battery. I boondock a lot. Sunset pic is from Sunset Crater area north of Flagstaff.
2nd Pic is of window AC used during trip last August to Fort Worth. Usually I camp in summer to avoid heat. But, the TX trip was a must. I put ac on the floor & strap down when traveling & takes only minutes to put in window when needed. I only take it with me if I'm sure I'll need it to sleep. As I'm rarely inside during the day. Too much to do. LOL.
Last May, I drove to Guadalajara, MX & back. I travel as![]()

much as I can with Alaska scheduled for next year. Already have 37000 on truck. Although not all travel, sadly. LOL. 3rd pic is on beach at Elephant Butte, NM from my kayak with my doggo as "masthead".![]()
Love this forum. so much help & camaraderie here.
There is quite a difference in models, as I seen with A.C units. I have; mini-split in cabin, window unit in a shed, portable A.C, and the RV A.C. in my Scamp on draining, RV A.C. it will have puddle and trail down from the roof in use, the window unit wouldn't accumulate enough to drain but puddle in bottom and form a mold and alge farm. The portable one accumulated at most a quart of water in humid days but enough I recommend having it able to drain. The latter two love some power though.I have a Frigidaire that basically never needs drained. Every time I've checked it, I get about a thimbles worth of water. Even after running for a couple weeks non stop.
I also have another one that needs the reservoir emptied daily. This one was given to us by our nephew when he moved into a house with central air.
Both are different dimensions, bet you can't guess which one I made a cubby hole in my trailer for.
Wish I'd known that the free one needed drained regularly. I'd built my shelf unit different, so I could use the one that doesn't need drained constantly.
Oh well, I'll monkey rig up a hose system so it's easier to use.
Here is the tag on the side of the Frigidaire unit.
So you picked up yours from directly from the Casita nest.Nice to see fellow Casita and Scamp enthusiasts here. Here is my 21 Mojave picking up our Casita in Rice
