That picture is a lot easier to stomach than if it was a picture of a $60k (stock) rig and probably the biggest reason most of us don't try to push them to their full capacity.
There is a far greater risk to damaging a JT on pavement than off. The junkyards are full of totaled soccer mom rides that never been off pavement.

I too find it comedic. As many have posted here already- it’s to each their own.
I find it challenging to rationalize a lot of peoples choices- I live by function. Why by a vehicle that was made to go off road if you aren’t going to go off road? It doesn’t get very good gas mileage, their history shows they are not cheap to own…. If you can’t turn wrenches you need to have deep pockets.
We lived just outside Death Valley for a few years. Tons and tons of places to go wheel, tons of built jeeps. Very few of them ever wanted to actually go out and wheel. It’s like a new stigma thing- mine is this big, as representation to how much cash can be thrown into a vehicle. This became more apparent in places like big bear. $100-125k rigs all over the place. More were interested in watching one dude get through an obstacle and coming up with 50k hypothetical Scenarios that they would roll, because they had on anti rocks. Or it’s not challenging anymore because they are over built.
I found it funny- we have a Jeep because we like to get out. I like to challenge what I can and can’t do. Our JK was built to the T- and frankly it became not so fun so drive on the street, pulling the inside tire off the ground when cornering at speed, driving at a constant lean when driving down 395 because of side wind etc. we parted ways, picked up the JTD, moved up north… same scene up here- not many folks actually wheel, or consider fire roads wheeling ?
It is what it is. I guess I’m glad for the community- more people driving jeeps because they think they are cool. It’s just a different community from 20 years ago…
“It is what it is” some folks like to throw money at appearance.
You and I could be friends. Im sure you saw exactly what I was getting at before the chicken littles hijacked this thread and somehow derived “tone” and “attitude” which is near impossible to do over text. But, yeah. Tried to be nice about it but, nah. That shipped sailed away.

Definitely I see the change in Jeep community which seem to be 100% based in the virtual world. That’s not me. I’ll get dirty first. It used to be camaraderie and enjoying the experience.

Makes absolutely no sense to get a cool vehicle like these and leave it parked in the garage or driveway. Apparently this forum is chock full of those types

I'm an old school Jeep guy. On my 9th Jeep if you include my FJ40 and Roxor. My 1st new Jeep is a JT and Ive driven plenty of other Jeeps along with other off road vehicles US and internationally. For work and pleasure. Since I retired last year I've gotten in to RV hauling now only drive 1/2 and 3/4 t trucks and RV trailers from IN and OR to Anchorage Alaska. I say this because I need to be clear where I'm coming from before someone with 3 years here calls me a newb. Do we even do this anymore? OK, before that guy who got his 1st new Jeep 4 years ago and sank $20k in it and been to 3 trails.

As of this post trip Journals and Reports account for 3,344 messages. This topic involvement is dwarfed by tech section, builds, and basically "what tires can I fit without a lift" topics. Not only here but FB pages. In fact, under this General discussion there are two subjects threads. One is what did you do TO, with 1293 pages and WITH 53 pages. We have the most trail capable 4x4 ever made in history being sold right now, but seems the almost sole discussion is who has what trim and what other crap can you buy for your Jeep.

I see some of the most well built off road Jeeps with the best graphics.. with an impeccable paint and finish. I swear I know a guy with a 99 Suzuki Vitara that has seen more trail use in a month then that a built $110k JT.

I've had my JT for 10 days. And yeah, I've modded a bit. It's a Sport trim. Did 285/70 (33's), knock of rubi bumper, 1.5 level spacers, take off rub rails and that's it until I get the next thing. The day after I got my JT we had to go to TJ, drop off BIL ATV in SD, and other things, Tooled around San Diego a bit and drove back to AZ. Yeah, I realize its not a trip report to Imogene Pass, but that's next. Have you driven in Mexico? A Jeep is made for Mexico no question about that. Also plan to take local trails. Nothing crazy, yet. I also want to take my Jeep to Alaska since I'm familiar with the road, summer and winter.

And to also say, Jeeps aren't the only ones. Name any brand. Seems like only Adventure bikers are the ones bragging where they've been. Guns too. It's all about some crap they put on and not about a course, range report, or hunt.

So how about we add some Arizona pin striping and hear about getting a flat or stuck somewhere more than hearing about who has the best trim level, or the 1 millionth will 35 fit... We have the most versatile vehicle ever made in production. So let's hear more on these adventures and where you've been. Who cares if its bone stock or the most mods.

No one I forcing you to read the build post. One I think people or asking for advice so they don't waste mo ey, which really makes sense. Two build you jeep to what you want is fun and some people come up with ideas you never thought about, which is nice. And three why is what other people do with their money and jeep any of your concern. You are a old school jeep guy good for you, but come on man. Instead of worrying about the stuff you are complaining about why not help the new guys out with you insight instead.

I don’t think anyone cares truely what someone else does with their money. It’s just a matter of function. You build and buy a Jeep and do not take it off road…? They don’t bring a whole lot more to the party. They are pretty crappy on fuel economy, the rides pretty well crap, noisy, and for $60-70k…. I’m just saying a diesel Escalade isn’t much more! ?? and that has rear seat entertainment! ?

There again their money to spend as they see fit. Just maybe they like owning a jeep not for me to say, I don't care what others do. Personally I like how my jeep drives. Drove it to Arizona where I am typing this now. Very enjoyable drive. Did the jeep trail this morning in Sedona whhatch the sun rise on the red rocks. Took the interstate back around to Sedona jammed out to tunes singing with the sunrider down with my now grown kids having a great time talking about old times, having ave a great time. Spent a good chunk of money on my jeep and mods but was all cash down.

I just realized where I made my mistake with this crowd of twisted underwear over my observation in a form where f a question, and that is I’M a first time NEW Jeep owner here. Because the rest of my Jeeps and Jeep like (except the Roxor) we’re not new off the lot vehicle. And I failed to remember that a typical new Jeep owner will be scared to take go off road, while the second owner can’t wait to take it off road. But I’ll take a brand new Ram 2500 off road because that’s just how I am. Probably you too. Yeah, the whole home to grocery store/mall to trail and back home in the same tank of gas thing.

So now I see why these guys are bent out of shape over this topic. Sorry guys. Maybe this forum isn’t for me after all. This is why I see 97% tech/mod/build/I got ducked/someone didn’t return my wave post and replies to 3% trail and actual use post ratio. At least m assured to find a nicely built or well taken cared of driveway ornament for a lower price in the used car market when the next cool thing comes around.

and you are right. I don’t care how anyone else spends their money. You saw that I was asking where are those who like to use their JTs what they were made for instead of what else can I do to my Jeep? Then heads exploded over that. And I’m like “what in the hell happened here”

Check out local sections, and you'll see plenty of threads with rides that have been planned and pics after the run. I've been with three different groups of JTs on three different rides, all planned there. The most recent was Peter's Mill Run, a BOH trail.
Jeep Gladiator Since when is it more about what we do TO our Jeeps than what we do WITH our Jeeps 20220702_101851

Good times had by all.

I love seeing all the things people DO to theirs, as it gives me plenty of ideas of what I want for mine, as well as just checking out the builds, and don't care why people are doing what. I don't DO things to mine for attention; I'm a middle child and generally shy away from that. But there's nothing wrong with being proud of things you do and wanting to throw up a pic about it. It's all about sharing product information in a better way than ever reading reviews online.

There are also two WITH threads for some reason and one is longer than the other. There is also a really cool Glamour Shots thread, that has pics of Jeepson all types of environments. Oh there there is a "what did you HAUL in your JT today", because it's a truck and sometimes people do truck things with it too.

If you want more dedicated trail review and whatnot, download a trail app like ONXOFFROAD or the like. You'll learn a lot more a lot faster than trying to search on here.

Why people spend time focusing on things other people do that annoy them is beyond me. It's a waste of energy.

I have to agree with JTBurns (Joe)my friend I have not met yet. Missed a couple trail get togethers cause of work and life. Modifing my Mojave for what I need to do, latest thing is putting a winch on mostly for help pulling trees out of my woods to the driveway. I’ve looked at people’s posts on winch’s, decided I don’t need a new front bumper, looked at threads on using the plastic bumper learned a lot, got advice from another friend named Shadowspapa (Bill), and am going to install next week probably, as we are out on the beach surf fishing this weekend and camping with my daughters family next weekend using the Mojave to drive on the beach, tow the camper and drive grand kids to get ice cream. I also have had a few Jeeps starting with a 46 CJ2A, which I had in 1976, and has only had two owners since me and I know them both. I am amazed how much I have spent on mods on what looks to be a stock Mojave with a cap.
All that said I’m a posing newbe, forum reading junkie, who uses his Jeep all the time, from sleeping in the back turkey hunting, running the east coast beaches, towing camper, boat and tractor around, and really enjoy blowing money on the small mods that upgrade my truck a little bit but not show off for others. Who cares what others do as long as they are happy and return my wave, Ha!…..Jack

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/what-did-you-do-with-your-gladiator-today

In my case, we decided on a soft top Gladiator in part to replace a ‘64 Galaxie 500 convertible as our ”fun” vehicle, & my 2011 Tundra as my daily driver. I’ve owned many 4x4’s over the years that I’ve beat on including a ‘65 Power Wagon & a ‘78 Scout. Maybe I’ve gotten that out of my system. I’ve always wanted a Jeep & now I have one.
You’re entitled to your opinion, we can agree 100% on that. But what I do with my Jeep is 100% up to me. Can we agree on that?

Sorry guys. Maybe this forum isn’t for me after all.
Maybe, you are spending a lot of time being combative if the messaging goes off track to what you want.

You can find other more focused groups on the internet like FB and such but I have found that there is an apex that is usually met when a membership number starts to track off the original intent of the subject in the first place.

This is a generalist forum. So even though you started the topic and own the original stated first post content, you cannot control the messaging after that and you are going to be constantly at odds with counter comments unless you find a peace with it.

It’s quite easy to spot tone and attitude in pure text. In fact, I spotted it yet again here in this text. It’s the exact same as in all of your other replies.

It’s cool to cop an attitude, just don’t act shocked when people call you out on it and try to walk it back as a “joke”.

Because it's easier to take pictures of mods than to upload videos of hours and hours of trail rides... ?

Why do you care so much? Do what you want with yours and let others play Legos with theirs. Or, better yet, share what you did with yours and walk the walk.

I hadn’t realized we had FBI cyber forensics on board. And no. The tone and attitude was first mentioned by your post with the sole intent to crap on my thread. Dude, I have no power over your fragile ego. Calling me that I thought I was cool. That’s all a you thing. My 1st post was only introducing myself. Was only noting an observation. But hey, thanks for crapping on it.

You’ve added text that had nothing to do with the topic. Just like now you’ve added that I’ll walk it as a joke. WTH dude? Had a bad day? Take it somewhere else.

You’ve been in this forum 2 years and I 2 weeks. You’ve added nothing to this forum but this. You just decided to crap post now?
I mean is it your thing to rise from the tomb once a year to crap post and just have to say something not related at all to the topic? Was it just unbearable to simply not say anything and go about your day?

How about that for tone and attitude now?

so yeah, calling out and stuff. Your ability to detect“tone” and “attitude” over text is a figment of your imagination. But hey, no thanks for the highJack and derailment.

have fun with your garage decoration
