bought my 2025 Anvil Gladiator Nighthawk back in May. sort of a garage queen since i have a commuter car for daily drudgery.
in July took it on a 3,000 vacation trip from my home in Missouri into Canada to Niagara Falls then Maine, and back down the eastern seaboard. like the platform but wanted to change a few things. started with selling the 20's it came with and replacing the with a set of take of Rubicon rims with take off 255/70R-17's. past month or so thinking lift, re-gear bigger tires, maybe LED lighting, and adding some factory options i should of gotten in the first place..

Mojave,
thats what i should of bought in the first place. by now all the 25's were gone in my area and beyond. i even started looking to trade down a year for a low mileage one. no dice, all the selling dealers were asking low to mid $40's for them.
then i stumbled upon a new 25 i overlooked, also Anvil . everything i wanted plus leather trimmed bucket seats pkge, customer preferred 24D, and active safety group. i think the only reason it was still there was a convertible with a $59470 sticker. i didn't want a convertible for various reasons. contacted a sales rep i was interested but it was contingent on difference and them putting my Anvil hardtop on the Mojave and putting the convertible top on my trade in.
we were close on the difference figure including labor to switch the tops.
$59,470 list. discounted to $43470, $33k for my Nighthawk. done. top swap this week.

With as loud as mine is with my hard top and the fact that I can’t tell any difference in hwy wind noise with the soft tops I’ve driven, I often wish I’d purchased a soft top. I’ll buy a soft top eventually. I need to pay more attention to deals near me when they pop up. The soft tops are surprisingly well insulated.

I had a twill softop on my JK for a while and I found it to be louder than a hard top, but not enough to be a problem. I only sold it because we were getting more into 'overlanding' and I wanted the Jeep to be more secure. I wouldn't want one on my JT but Id love to have the Sunrider as a happy medium.

Compared to any other soft top wrangler I’ve owned the soft top is surprisingly quiet. When I purchased this vehicle a hard top was my number one priority but 2 years later I’m content. Now every wrangler soft top I’ve owned I had a winter weather hard top in the garage living up North but now in FL it’s just an option.

It’s louder as far as other vehicles, like loud exhaust, etc. The wind noise over 65 is about the same with both.

I have a 21 Willys with the Freedom panels AND a Bestop Twil Sunrider. I haven't run the sunrider in the winter here because of salt. But during the rest of the year, I find the Twil (even just the front) makes the truck slightly quieter than the freedom panels do on the highway, as the twil has very little/if any flapping. I don't have headliners on my panels so I can't say if those would negate any difference, but I'm also not spending what people want for them either.

I still wouldn't trade a hardtop for a full soft top, when with the knowledge that I will eventually need to replace my hard top due to fiberglass deterioration with time. I'd actually like to either paint-match my hardtop or get another PBJ hardtop for those days where you won't be hitting trails and instead going to a nice area.

i was surprised by how quiet it was when i test drove it including on the highway. wanted to keep the hard top strictly for security reasons.

So if I understand this right it cost you $10k to get into another 2025, that buys a lot of upgrade parts. To each his own and it your money but I would have found a wrecked glad and stripped what you wanted out of it

Someone mentioned road noise in the hardtop? Like I have with more than enough wind noise. I’ve looked at the sound deadening panels that cover the inside of the top, but at the price wondering if it’s worth it?

That’s a good question. I’ve thought about it before but never done it because it’s expensive and I don’t want to waste several hundred dollars on something with marginal results.

I have both a hard top and soft on my Gladiators. Is the hard top quieter? Yes, but discussing sound quality in a Jeep is right up there with discussing fuel economy. With that said, congrats on the soft top Mojave. I love mine!

I was just really shocked and disappointed in how much louder it is than my old 2008 JKU Rubicon.

Yeah my last soft top was a 74 CJ5 so I am pretty easy to impress.
