Just made an appointment to look at travel trailers this weekend. I am leaning towards a 2019 Jayco Jayflight SLX.

Pulling a camper is the 2nd reason I picked up my JTR

So made a 2 week trip from NJ to Tampa and back with the Stage II 450hp setup.
This thing runs amazing!
I drove like a grandma for 2 hrs on one leg of the trip at 55-65mph and got 18.7mpg. Then did a few hours at 70-72 mph and got 17.5. If you add a blast or 2 it brings down the avg to 14-14.5.

We are looking at campers tomorrow too. I’m leaning towards a NoBo 19.8. I really like the features like the factory cold weather package and if you can believe it the local dealer has one on the lot. My problem, I’m a Jeep guy after all, is that I want to make a few changes as soon as I get it to the house. I will always have a generator with me so I need to upgrade the rear bumper and build a generator box and fashion some sort of rack to carry my extended run fuel tank.

NoBos are sweet. I wish they were in my price range.

The Datsun is light with transmission longevity in mind.

How do you like you Macgreagor, I've been thinking about picking up an x or m. I have a 19ft Potter right now, wanting something with more head room.

Love it!

Never knew I would.
Been power boating all my life.

The peace sailing brings me all alone is worth it’s weight in gold.

I call it my fishing RV & plan to tow from Texas to Florida & sail to the Bahamas.

Dumping the 2200# water ballast makes the boat’s towing weight a little over 2300# empty.

Not a fast sail boat so you might chuckle at my new fast sails.

My cousin & I broke the hull speed rating long ago before he passed.

Aunt gave me the boat, trailer & motor for 1000. ❤

The sails are for beating our speed record & can’t wait to try them out.

We were supposed to put in at Brownsville, Texas & do inter coastal all the way up the Eastern shore line but cancer took that away.

The only trailer sailor I would have instead is a fast trimaran but way out of my toy price range with less living space.

Well, I'm no racer. I'm more interested in easy towing/setup/launching, since I like to explore new lakes, and I want a bigger cabin. I'm a hunchback by the time I spend a weekend on the Potter, I think it has 5'3" headroom. I used to be 6' 1", I think the last measure had me down to 5' 11 3/4.

Forgot to mention with a bad elf & Ipad you can see weather coming, dump the ballast and out run it to safe harbor. It is funny seeing a sailboat pull a tube or water skier.

My Potter can go in 6 inches of water with the keel up, you just can't sail, I freaked people out when we sailed the Potomac river and cut across a real shallow area heading to a marina for the night, the people were in their back yard watching and I think waiting to see me ground.

People waving & yelling about hazards to see you navigate without grounding it is fun. ?

I went to see them today and think I many be more interested in the Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH. It has almost the same features and layout as the NoBo 19.8 but it has a tandem axle. Tandem axle will to much better and ride smoother than a single. It also is only 7 feet wide making it much easier to tow with the Gladiator. Construction is basically the same with the Azdel panels on both and the Winnebago has a Dometic fridge. The sales lady also said the Winnebago rear bumper is rated for 300 lbs. that should carry my generator and fuel without major modifications.

It looks like we will be buying and used one from a friend. 2018 Jayco Jayflight SLX 19bh. He’s only used it for 2 weeks. We were going to look at the same one, used one on the lot, but saved 5k by buying this one.

$5k ain’t nothing to sneeze at! That’s found money for modifications. I did some research and the Micro Minnie is only 4 inches more narrow than the NoBo 19.8 so that is really no benefit. BUT the tandem axle is still what I want. The MM weighs less dry and has 500 lbs more GVWR so a man could carry a lot more stuff.

My plan for the travel trailer is a graduation trip with my son. We are planning to take a 45 day trip through interior Alaska to fish. I hope we can find a place where the only person I see is my son for a few weeks. The occasional bear or moose would be welcome too.

The first thing people who don’t know me too we’ll say is you better get a gun for that trip. My response is I probably will get a new gun but all I really need to do is choose one from the current stash. The favorite in the clubhouse is my trusty old stainless steel 4570. Makes me feel like a real cowboy!!!

I really wanted a tandem but this was too good to pass up. Maybe down the road when we upgrade
One of the couples we camp with has the same camper we are getting. We’ve been inside and know it’s perfect for us.
That sounds like an awesome trip with your son.

Jayco is a very good name. If you got a sweet deal then I personally think you made the right choice. Heck I prefer to save $25k and borrow a sweet RV from a buddy. Unfortunately my buddies are about as generous as I am!
