This used to be my friend's setup, but he has since sold the trailer. If I were single I would have been all over it. But my gf was having none of that.

He added a 270 degree awning that folded out, and the back of his Jeep opened to damn near a full camp kitchen.

I have never towed before, purchased the JTR specifically for towing a camper. I just picked up a 19.5 foot camper. Are the stock mirrors good enough or should I look at some kind of extender/addition?

extender for sure, the mirrors are hardly good enough for even driving. haloview camera system additionally if you can, cameras have been so much more useful than mirrors well worth the under $500 I spent on it.

The camper comes with a camera. I never thought of using it whilst towing. I will have to see how that works out.
I only planned on using it for parking.

Got the wrap done on the camper. Not the best pictures but you get the idea. Had an aluminum cover fabbed for the a/c intake to replace the crappy canvas one. That way we could wrap it.

The window on the right has a transparent moon graphic in it. When the bathroom light is on at night it glows like a full moon. :)

This, and about to do the 166 mile trip back. The old YJ is just about all fixed up for my friend!

It’s not all about the weight, it rides good too.

Its great having that extra perspective, depending on the angle it is set at. Gives you some of that visibility back. The side marker ones I put in also give me full view down the side of the trailer, and honestly those are way more useful for road than the backup one is.

Went for my first tow tonight and I was pleasantly surprised :) Stock 2020 Sport with MaxTow. 2015 Forest River MiniLite 2109s. 3800 lbs dry, maybe 4200 lbs when ready to go. Truck did very well. I towed on back roads to get to I-40 ,then took I-40 to I-95 (about 20 miles) , down I-95 for about 20 miles, then back roads home again. Total of around 80 miles. Our first real trip isn't until the end of April and I wanted to see how the truck/camper would do before we headed out. I didn't get as much big truck passing and following as I wanted but I did get enough to feel like the truck will do ok. Mostly 5th and 6th gear, temps all stayed below 220 (that I saw anyway) . Jeep had plenty of go for the roads I was on. No problem getting on the highway either. Overall a very decent towing experience. First real trip will be to the NC coast so mainly flat. Will head to the NC mountains later in the summer for a Jeep thing.

Prodigy brake controller, Blue OX Sway Pro WDH, JK mirror extenders with Mr Thorns' adapters. When hooked up the trailer is level, the truck is just slightly higher in the rear then the front. No sway, no OH SH!T moments, everything went along smoothly . WHEW :)

That’s great to hear. We’re picking up a trailer that’s just a little bit heavier than that, but not by too far, in a few weeks and looking for our first TT experience in Shenandoah National mid-April. Hoping for a smooth ride as well! Similar trailer setup as well, but adding in a Halo view backup/side camera combo and thinking about a TPMS, but those aren’t cheap so it may wait. Any experience with a TPMS and are they that critical with new tires?
