Bought a 22 Rubicon a month or so ago from a Ford dealer who took it in on trade for a Bronco Raptor. I keep reading abut people hating the engine cutting off at red lights and using the Tazer or devices to disable or turn off manually.

Mine has never turned off ever. Attached is the message on the screen. I have not done anything to the batteries and wondering if maybe the former owner bypassed the Aux batter? Or maybe there is a tazer module hidden in there and he never told the dealer.

Any ideas what would make this message appear? Everything functions normally and no error codes.

Yeah, your batteries are low - maybe even going bad.
Open the hood and connect a decent volt meter to the main battery and check the voltage - if it's under 12.3 or so, it's going to start and run fine but that's WAAAY low. Not fully charged, or going bad.
Try charging the batteries.

It's a normal message when the batteries aren't charged. Nothing weird about it.
No, it's not tazer - and tazer has to be LEFT IN THE VEHICLE to prevent ESS from working. A dealer would eventually see that it's there. It's too expensive a device to just leave in there.
I'd bet you that one has bypassed or turned off anything - time to get those batteries checked!
It's not turning off because you have battery issues - that message is exactly what it means - word for word.

I'd personally start by using a good 10+ amp AGM charger and charging the batteries - like I've explained in other places here, and go from there.
If it's not driven FAR enough for LONG enough, it will never charge the batteries fully.
A charged battery should read at least 12.7 volts.

I would bet the AUX battery is bad, it will take out the main if you don't replace it.

It is an easy fix.

Thanks guys. The Jeep bounced around some dealers and I think Elite Jeeps in Destin put the lift and shocks, and wheels and tires and the front bumper and in service date was 7/8/2022. So I was not considering the battery to be an issue as its fairly new and showing no signs of being bad. I will put my meter on it and see.

I was thinking maybe the guys doing the mods did something to disable the start stop or the aux battery.

What @ShadowsPapa mentioned is good advice to put it on a charger for awhile before calling any battery.

These vehicles with the aux battery system also do not like to sit for extended periods not being charged. Buying used, it could have sat for some time not being used or not used enough to level out the charging to both batteries.

Thanks again. It was at the dealer for a month, but they put 500 miles on it, but I have no idea how long it might have sat. I will test it and put it on the charger and do some diagnosis. Its still under warranty, but will do some investigating before taking it to them. And have seen others mention push for both batteries if one is being replaced as the Aux takes out the main.

Exactly.
It may not have been driven much or for very long when it was
and
it may have sat for a week, or longer, on a lot - draining the batteries further.

I'd charge with a good charger and go from there.

For others, as I know some know all about this in spades:
My 2020 got to the point I got the battery charging message for ESS a lot.
Granted, I didn't drive it frequently..... but.....
so I charged both batteries, reset the IBS, and from that point on until I traded it for my 2022, the ESS worked fine, I rarely got the battery charging message unless it had been sitting for a while.

And have seen others mention push for both batteries if one is being replaced as the Aux takes out the main.
No, that's internet lore, stuff that a person or two sees, then repeats it over and over and it becomes fact by virtue of being repeated over and over.
The problem with such things is that even if it's wrong, the more it gets repeated, the more it's seen and believed.
Either battery can go bad first.
there's no rule that says "the aux will go bad and take out the main". Batteries don't work that way.
It's just as common for the main battery to go bad.
And
there's nothing saying that when one goes bad "it takes out the other".
Too many "it depends" and "ifs" in there.
I'm not saying it can't happen - just saying it's not common, and it's not likely to happen that way. But if one person has it happen, out of thousands of people, and they were stranded and they shout it loud enough, well............

Now for another fact - if you have a dealership test batteries, they have a very specific procedure they follow, and they must use specific equipment.
If they find one bad and the other not, they will replace the one - that's it. They can't warranty replace a battery that does not actually test bad.
So if the aux battery is bad and they replace it - cool - there's no reason to argue if the main tests good.
If the main tests bad, let them replace it, if the aux tests good, move on.
Dealerships must transmit battery test results to Jeep for warranty approval - too many batteries were being replaced either because customer said so, or it was an easy way out instead of proper diagnostics and repairs.

Same happen to me, then a few months of that lead to a dead secondary battery and the truck would not turn on at all.

Listen to those on here, i ignored it for a while then ended up in a suit an tie changing batteries at work.

If I can get my wife to stop driving it, I might be able to hook it up to the charger! We have a hurricane coming so I will get some time with it at home to test and hook up the charger.

Hurricane prep first, of course! All else can wait!
Last fall we got out of Sarasota just a day or two before they were hit. My son lives in Florida and they had rain literally coming sideways and getting into their newer house between the roof and walls and running down the walls. No personal experience, but danged close enough!
Do what you gotta do.

Thanks for your concern. Did the prep on the weekend and pulled in the furniture this morning. Got a new mod for the Jeep: Yellow jerry can for diesel!

Been in Tampa since the early 80's. We have the Hurricane prep down. Last year, Hurricane Ian, was the one that I thought we would take a direct hit from and it turned toward land in Naples. This one seems to be staying west. We will get rain and wind and tree branches and street flooding, but do not think we will get a direct hit. As long as I have power I can trickle charge it. At least the Rubicon is nice and high when the street floods :)

Hope insurance did not try and claim your son's water damage was flood. Typical response from insurance companies to not pay and then rates go higher (20% increase is what many are getting and not on the water!).

I had this message for over a year. Told the dealer and they said it was just low and probably charging. Well needless to say, a couple weekends ago it took out my main battery and left me stranded. My aux battery was super low and the main battery was toast. My auto start stop message said that exact same thing for over a year. I'd highly recommend considering replacing the battery or removing it. It killed my main battery. And the bad thing was there was no warning at all. Drove fine and started up fine and I stopped at a convenient store to get something to drink and came out to no start and my whole jeep acting crazy. Since the aux battery was just low and wouldn't hold a charge, it was allowing relays and electrical stuff to flicker on but wouldn't crank because the main battery was dead.

Thanks. I am debating buying an AGM Aux battery. I am under warranty so I do not want to disable it until after I am out of warranty to make sure they have no reason to not repair something.

The factory OEM aux battery is also AGM.
