Steel Bumper

It adds $1,700 for the steel bumper because you have to get the LED lights, which I wasn’t going to order. Is the steel bumper worth that?? Has anyone actually added a winch to the factory steel bumper??

In my case no it was not wort it. I am no fan of LED's and the price is to high in my opinion.

The LED's are 100% worth it, my wife's JLUR doesn't have them and JTLE does. It was one of the first things she noticed on the JT when she drove it. Now as for the the Steel bumper I guess it depends on your use case. The fact that it is steel and can be converted to a stubby bumper and a winch can be mounted to it. I also think its one of the better looking stubby bumpers out there, a lot just look squared off to me, they are functional but to me not ascetically pleasing.

The steel bumper does look awesome....but there just as good looking even better looking for much cheaper

It's definitely worth it. It may add $1700 to the price, but you are getting the LEDs & the bumper. If you don't order the LED lights, you will probably want to replace the OEM headlights anyway. The LEDs are infinitely better than the regular lights. But just as there are aftermarket options for bumpers, there are also aftermarket LEDs...though in the long run, you won't save that much by going aftermarket. The LED lighting group is not just the headlamps (which make the most notable difference). It also includes LED fogs, turn/parking lamps and tail lights. I paid almost as much for LED headlamps alone for my '13 JKUR. And to answer your question about if anyone has added a winch to the factory steel bumper:

I’m in Shelbyville, half way between Louisville and Lexington on 64. I’m ordering on Monday. My wife likes the steel bumper so I’m leaning towards just ordering it with LED lights.

never had an issue, but I’d gladly sacrifice that for the few times a year o be able to see better at night the rest of the time. Halogen lights suck, too dim.

Same with the forward facing camera. At the time I ordered I believe you had to have steel bumper and LED's to get it.

The good thing is if you don't want to play FCA's package game you don't have to. The aftermarket will provide everything you can come up with and for the most part at a better price point. It is also fun and widely acceptable to fab up your own junk.

Its a Jeep thing. Order it fro FCA, after market or make it yourself. As long as you like it and it is functional who cares? Jeep on my friends

I bought one, with the LED fogs, 2nd hand from a JLU Rubicon owner for $900. I also used the Warn mounting plate to install a Smittybilt wench. The only challenge for me was installing four rivnuts for the mounts. On the plus side, I learned what rivnuts are and how to install them.
