It’s hard to take him at face value after he acknowledges being arrogant about these issues. If he follows through and improves things in the future then he should also take care of current owners having issues with their vehicles regardless of whether they are under warranty.

Blah, blah, blah. A lot of buzz words from the guy saying arrogance added to the problem. Until there is proof in the pudding, (for example, 100,000 mile/10 year paint/corrosion warranty), just lip service. There are other things that should be addressed too. I have a 99 TJ bought new, which I can say, has been close to my Toyotas in build quality and lack of problems. I would like to buy a Gladiator but I am leery of making the purchase based on what I see as quality issues.

The problem with Stellantis, and Carlos Tavares for that matter, is that they see themselves as a global entity rather than diversifying and seeing that North America is its own entity. North America isn't Europe, but they want us to become like Europe.

Aside from quality issues (try putting a little paint on the damn vehicles, eh Jasper?) might want to address the price / value relationship before putting $85,000 retail prices on live axle, body on frame utility vehicles. How hard is this? "Arrogance" starts with overpricing with a perfectly straight face.

So they have a 51% stake in a Chinese EV startup with plans to sell them in Europe with the EU just announcing a 48% tariff on Chinese EV’s. That ought to work out well.:like:

And that 38% tariff was shrugged off by investors. The profit margin on these EVs is so high, theyll still be making money. EU manufacturers(and US automakers) need to step up their game if they want to compete with the incoming deluge of chinese EV tech.

Ive driven a couple of BYDs and I can tell you, they are a whole different animal compared to the cheap first gen that I got to drive five years ago(glorified golf carts). My theory is, they happily welcomed Tesla into building the Shanghai gigafactory in 2019 and then just took all the intellectual property and made their own EVs. The timing just matches up.

FCA US has been asleep at the wheel for years. CDJR dealers have been sucking for the last 10 years; Jeep has priced itself out of the market; quality is not where it needs to be; dealer inventories are bloated; Stellantis sales were overtaken by Hyundai-Kia, and are now being overtaken by Honda; Subaru is about to overtake Jeep in N.A., etc., etc.

If it waren't for North America revenue and profits falling precipitously, Tavares would have continued to pay no attention.

I wish Sergio Marchinone was still alive and running the the ship.

But I will say Tavares at least was blunt about the shortcomings. That’s becoming a rarity. The ability to correct them is where the rubber meets the road. Sergio could be blunt and effective.

A “partnership “ with a country that wants control over all business. What could go wrong?

I agree 100%. Sergio was great for FCA. He's the reason why we got the EcoDiesel in North America.

He's also the reason Fiat and Alfa came back to the USDM, too. Their eventual exits of the USDM were seeded after he died.
