I found these for my Rock Hard sliders that are made for a side by side. They make the wife happy in town and I remove them as needed when off-road. I don’t recall who I purchased them from but do a search and you should find them. They are for 1 3/4” diameter tubing. (Hopefully I did this right this time)

What steps / nerf rail fit over RokBloks? I am a beach rider so no need for the slider other than it looks nice (and came with the Mojave). My main worry is the grocery store parking lot during vacation season. It gets packed down here and kids are excitedly tossing doors open. A nerf rail to protect against that would be great. I don’t mind parking and walking a bit but people seem to want to park next to me for some reason.

I'm looking at steps too. My wife is short and needs something that comes down maybe halfway so she can get her foot on the step. I'd like them to mount with what is already drilled in the JT frame. The automatic steps are nice but sure are expensive.

Thanks for all the replies and amazing insight! Undecided at the moment - but I've got good direction to start narrowing it down. RSE is making a strong case so far. Cost of having your cake and eating it too I suppose!

Depending in what you’re intending to do, you can get rock sliders, steps, or somewhere in between ( step sliders ).

with rock sliders, you should be looking for solid construction, frame mount, potentially something that pushes the body/doors away from obstacles.

I got tired of seeing more and more chipped paint on my rear fender, chips on my door hinges, and road grime all over the sides during winter months, and road grime from moist gravel roads. My wife’s JTHA didn’t have those issues, with her OEM plastic steps. Sure, you could add expensive mud flaps, but then you have to be sure to not rip them off.

I wanted to go tube-themed, as in tube doors and a small hoop over the bumper, and hence looked for some tube step-sliders that would protect the paint a bit, and push me away from obstacles. I do wish that these also mounted to the frame, and that’s something that I might fab later on.

DV8 makes a set that checks some of those boxes, and the tube diameter is really close to the tube diameter of the Mopar tube doors; you can see them together in my avatar https://dv8offroad.com/collections/jeep-jl-sliders-steps/products/wrangler-side-steps-oe-4-door

Get both. Not cheap, but rock slide engineering slider steps are the gold standard. They hold up to hard hits off road, and have automatic steps. My wife and kids love them.

+1 I have beat the stuff out of my RSE sliders and they have taken it all. Solid product.

What’s the double wall set up?
The steps are already made for bashing into the rocks and sliding on them, but if you are into crazy hard-core, bashing people buy the double wall option. It’s another thick layer of skin that gets riveted on to the existing holes. Talk about bulletproof.

Optional extra armor.
This shows my extra armor after I removed it to paint. Super easy to remove without removing the steps themselves. Once every two years or so.

RSE has my vote too...well....they'll soon have my money! :CWL:

After a couple trips after the lift, my knees and shoulders (and girlfriend) say that I need them.

So wasted some dough on my current sliders, but they were worth every penny in body insurance so far.

First time Jeep owner (not counting my previous Grand Cherokee) I'm curious what steps and sliders are out there. Being vertically challenged and planning on doing some light offroading - not heavy as this will be my A and B - I'm curious if going with a step style vs a slider/running board will I miss the ground clearance and also the protection that a slider would bring. Are there steps out there that won't be a liability if they get caught up on something?

I have rock slide engineering and love them. With 37's, these are perfect. I purchased the extra armor because our where we go.
