It would be nice if there was a hard wired gps unit with an affordable subscription.

something that can be tied in somewhere else other than the head unit. It seems like that’s the first thing thieves are doing is ripping that out to disable the 4g, gps, etc

just an idea - I have recorded our VINs, the radio ESN/ID and more information.

Might not hurt to track anything that has a serial number or ID.
I wonder if you can contact Sirius after a theft and let them know the vehicle, and radio, are missing and to see if they can block it ever being used - or at least find out when it pops up somewhere?
I have no idea - just tossing it out there.............

How easy is it to clone the key? I've read of it in other threads about stolen Jeeps.
What will a hood lock prevent? Does the thief need access under the hood, or is it only to silence the horn?

After seeing the other stolen thread/saga, I bought one of these as a starting point for my own security journey. Came in yesterday, and while I don’t have my truck yet, I tested it on my Elantra and it’s pretty slick! Definitely not 100% secure, but it’ll be a surprise, a pita, slow them down and possibly deter them. Going to get some hood latches and a tazer next.

I feel for you. This seems to be happening more and more.
I will add my advice.

KILL SWITCH, KILL SWITCH, KILL SWITCH.

I don't know why everyone doesn't have one.

Even if they clone your key fob, it won't start unless they find your very well hidden hidden kill switch.

My concern would be having it be an warranty issue if something electrical came up. (them trying to blame the kill switch for said issue)

Like most things in life, there is trade offs.

I would rather deal with the low risk of explaining a simple wire interrupt toggle switch circuit, than dealing with my ride being stolen.

It’s just insane that this is what it’s coming to. Guess I may have to rig the steering wheel up like a shock collar.

Anybody else have experience with one month old vehicles being a total loss? How much depreciation from MSRP should I be looking at? Should purchase price matter with the incentives? Or should MSRP really be the starting point for value? Is KBB an accurate measure of ACV for insurance or has anyone seen variance from that?

KBB private sale prices(last I checked its around $48k) are a good starting point. Purchase price wont matter from an insurance standpoint. All that matters is what an equally “Used, like-new” Gladiator can be bought for.

I presume you did this? Where/ which circuit did you interrupt?

Dang dude. I was in Catonsville a lot until my parents passed last year. So sorry for the loss of your Mojave. My sister lives just northwest of the city, too. The deals are really good right now on leftover 2023 models. Get it and immediately install a LoJack. I deal with Tate in Frederick and can hook you up with a great sales person. I've bought 4 Jeeps from her.

That was me... chaining it to the driveway will slow the theft down to a crawl, as a flatbed wouldn't even easily take it.

If you don't want the hassle of a chain, you could install bollards that operate off a remote...

Good thing a jeep could never drive around those...

Hey OP, I feel your pain, my Mojave was stolen in mid-December. Insurance on my end started quickly and then slowed down and blah blah all insurance is different.. I am finally looking to pick up my new Rubicon XR on Thursday. Feeling nervous about another Jeep but mine was not stolen near my home. Best of luck getting this sorted out

Hide an iphone (6) in the truck for Find My iphone feature. Make a custom circuit that connect to the phone headset output port to trigger a relay that shutdown the computer when you call the phone.
