That’s exactly what I was going to suggest…better option that the 392 IMHO…
I agree it is a better option and I did get a quote from AMW. The only challenge is I live in Commifornia and getting it smog will be tough. I’m Just being patient for the moment.

can't you make a complaint restrictive exhaust to pass emissions, then swap it out?

I have no idea if that would work. They say their are county’s you can register them and others are registering out of state

The MDS kills me. It took 4 months for my 5.7 to straighten out after disabling the MDS.

I have the AMW4X4 6.4L in my 2009 JKUR. $47K install out the door including the engine and 8 speed auto Transmission. It’s smooth and quick. Well worth it to me vs going for a new 392, since I know my vehicle and I am the original owner from new. I passed emissions in the Texas county I reside in no problem. I was nervous but it all worked as AMW advertised.

Is the AMW4x4 swap worth it? Yes.

Thank you for replying. I was wondering cause I keep hearing horror stories of sensors and alarms and codes. And being In Cali, Michigan is no simple task if I have issues once I get home.

I don't follow the 392 enough to know for sure; I think the Full Time transfer case is only available in 2.72:1
Every 392 is a Rubicon
Every 392 has Full Time transfer case
I now wonder what a 4.1:1 would feel like with that much horsepower?
I kinda figured the full time case had something to do with it, but still think it odd to not have a 4:1 low range in a Rubicon as that's been one of the constant defining parts of the package since it very first came out over twenty years ago. To me a Rubicon without a 4:1 low range is like a Sahara without body colour flares... it's just off from what it should be.

I didn't know every 392 was a Rubicon, did know that they all come with a full time case though. Can't say that I agree that was the wisest decision based on what I've heard concerning the full time actuator and associated components tending to burn up or fail.

Personal experience as far as perceived difference between a 2.72:1 and 4:1 low range isn't so much one feeling more powerful than the other, but rather it's just a slower and more controlled crawling speed at or near idle with the 4:1 range. I would expect the same to hold true with the 392.

You have a AMW4X4 dealer installer near you in El Monte. Off Road Kings. Give them a call and they surely will walk you through it and answer all your questions. That’s what i did with my install.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure AMW is located in CA and has CA smog legal swaps.

They have AMW approved shops, but when I spoke to him he said he did maybe one swap a year. As far as LEGAL swaps, the AMW is tuned better and has more HP, so definitely a no go for Cali.

Seems a bit odd to me that a Rubicon would come with a 2.72:1 low range.
1 reason I have a Mojave and not a Rubicon is I have absolutely 0 use for a 4:1 low range.
