Being retired with no entanglements I have become smitten with the thought of having some fun with a 392 Wrangler. Just for the fun of it. Not going to do the level of mods I did to my Gladiator and probably won't take it on 4x4 trails that can leave a mark on it. I can't put a V8 in the Gladiator here in Calif and not going to move. Some one please talk me out of it.

Have a friend that has a Power Wagon. Decided to buy a 392. Now he has 2 vehicles that suck gas and he's happy.

Being a conservative guy all my life I am having a hard time doing 100K on a Jeep. For now I am having a great time doing the Gladiator, Fox 2,5s res and adjustable from Accutune and anything else I want on it. Nice Hotels on vacation, and the lot. 100K will put a dent in it. LOL Not selling the JT for now. Maybe my 2500 Ram 4x4 will go just to keep life simple.

I think alot of us get the "itch" you are referring to.....unfortunately for you as your in Ca your choices are limited.
I also have this "itch" and have tried different scenarios in my head (and on paper) for trading the JT or swapping the 3.6 out. I love my truck so I think I know what's best for me.
I wish you well with your dilemma (disorder)!! Let us know which way you go..... :jk:

If your gonna get a big V8 outside of what you do with you gladiator. I personally don't think the wrangler is it. There's a lot more fun to be had with a V8 when you a lot closer to the road ass wise, if you never plan on wheeling with said rig. I'm personally not a fan of chargers or challengers but they do fit the bill. A corvette C5 and up with a nice exhaust does too.

register in another state? I believe there are some states that allow registration without residency but not sure the requirements. I know plenty of guys that open LLCs in NV and register their vehicles to that. Or open a trust in another state and put your car under that as well.

I'm sure TX would welcome a CA resident to register a car here and beginning next year they are doing away with state inspections.

Let’s get real. Does it make sense, can you pencil it out, can you justify the expense to anyone, and is it practical? Simple answer NO. However, as you have advised of your status in life it makes perfect sense to just Do It. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your new Hemi!

We were looking to get a 24 Wrangler Rubicon for my wife and went to the dealership and found this used 23 392 with only 9K miles on it with a 3.5 inch Metal Cloak lock-n-Load lift, 35inch tires, Rockslide Engineering Steps, 1200lbs winch and got it for $70K out the door. There are deals on used ones if you are willing to go used. It is a blast to drive and pretty scary when the wife is driving. If you are serious you might check out the Wrangler Forum as people post good deals on the 392 all the time over there.

The 392 is way on the back burner for now. The Gladiator is mod finished and have not had any issues with it. Doing the Nor Cal BDR later this month. The size of the JT does not matter to me. I see many guys on the 392 Forum have ing to do many mods and I don't want to start that list again. That 392 has the antenna in the windshield along with adapt CC and the GG that withheld should be about $1500. Then there are the TC issues. The 392 is probably a great Jeep but just not worth it to me no matter the cost.
