I'm still in the process of setting up my JT and I am needing something sturdy enough to put tools, bottle jack, etc into that is short enough to fit under a bed cover. Preferably something I can strap down in the bed, so it doesn't slide around while I'm on the trails.
I have molle racks on both sides for the lighter weight items (tow strap, recovery gear, Rotopax etc), but I need something for the heavier stuff.
I'd rather not bolt/mount anything in floor of the bed, as I like the practicality of being able to use it as a truck sometimes.

Could I please get some insight of what you all use that works well?

I got 2 condition1 totes. They are light, sturdy, ans fit perfect between the wheel wells and below the bed line. They also have 2 beefy tie down points. and wheels.

Rigid tool boxes from Home Depot. Tough as nails, lockable, and I throw a ratchet around them and just strap them to the front wall of the truck. As a bonus they are weather tight and have an o-ring seal that keeps dust out. You can get them in a couple sizes that fit under a bed cover, one of which has wheels and a handle to wheel it around.

The red Husky totes from Home Depot. They have a clear lid that is weather proof. You can lock them too.

I would recommend something that’s air tight to keep out any dust if you plan on using off road. I use Pelican because I wanted something I could secure in place but I believe Rigid is air tight also

I have two of these. They were only $50 each in July of 2021.

I used an old camping cooler so it’s water proof and has notches for the strap that keeps it from moving. I used the rear hooks to tie it down with.

That’s what I use, easy and cheap enough. Only hangup is I have to roll the tonneau back if I store the tote on the back wall of the Jeep.
