Not really. Honestly, hope he gets all that he deserves. Drivers today forget that they are driving rolling missles that can quickly ruin a person or family’s lives.

Especially Honda drivers. At least around here. They think they are Mario Andretti.

This coming from a dude that got his kicks regularly at triples on track almost every weekend.

OP, hope you wind up ok. Would hate to have seen it if you were in less of a vehicle.

Yup - they have this "what me worry" and "I'm invincible" mindset - or, like my youngest son did for years "wasn't my fault, they shouldn't have stopped" attitude.
And it doesn't help when they do BS like this there's no teeth in the laws to make them at least think about it. No penalty.
The kid that killed my father got a small fine that even HE could afford with a little work. Double laws broken (failure to maintain control, driving on wrong side of the road, there's no law against falling asleep, though) and he paid a bit of a fine.
Kid that rear-ended my brother's car years ago was driving in a car that had faulty brakes. He couldn't stop. My brother's car was towed and the guy that hit him - drove off in that car without brakes. Small ticket he paid.
Traffic penalties are a freakin' joke in this country.

Hear you loud and clear Brother. These are the things I hate to hear ever Let alone those that have experienced it.

I have a Mojave with stock bumpers and got rear-ended a couple months ago at a stop light. I was sitting dead waiting and just got smacked into by some jackass probably looking at his phone.

Anyways, his vehicle had severe damage to the front. His bumper was busted up bad and hanging off, smashed completely in the middle. I had some scratches on the plastic bezel pieces on the rear bumper that I had the body shop replace, plus a gash on one of the tow hooks. I was very impressed with how well the bumper held up. While the cover is all plastic, the supports and everything behind the plastic are all solid steel. The bumper and support brackets did not give at all. You might not have noticed the damage had I not pointed it out.

You got that right.
495 and 695 are awful. The speed limit is 55 most of the way, with speed cameras in the construction zones. So I try to keep it under 60. But you always have some *** switching lanes, not paying attention, and going like 80-85, even though there's guaranteed to be a beltway traffic jam, either from construction or from the last accident just around the corner.
Youre right about that, a lot of idiots on those roads. Traveled up through there several times for work and its dangerous on either inner or outter loops

I am happy that no one was seriously injured or worse.

Please make sure to take that Jeep into the shop to get everything thoroughly checked. I say this every time, energy from the impact had to be absorbed by something and if the bumper is in tact, the frame, mounts, hitch, etc. can be misaligned causing alignment issues and the like in the future.

Didn’t say I was ok… unfortunately my back and neck are on fire and I hit my head on the roll bar. I’ll be installing seat drop brackets to avoid hitting my head in the future
Ok, I guess I assumed that you were ok since you were posting about it. Sorry to hear that.

I'm 6'5" tall and have always worried about hitting my head on something.

I hope you have a quick and full recovery.

Echoing the suggestion to make sure the frame is still straight. Modern truck frames are made to absorb energy. There's a cutout somewhere between the rear axle and the cab that is designed to deform. I don't have one to hand to take a photo, but you'll know it when you see it. Big hole right through the middle. Make sure it's totally straight in that area.

My JKU got totaled from a rear end a couple months ago by an RV. I was actually surprised the damage wasn't a lot worse considering I was hit by 50,000 lbs, but the spare tire on the Wrangler is like extra armor for rear end collisions. Still, it was enough to total it and now I am driving a JT.

Make sure you get checked out by your doctor, especially because you hit your head! I've had some lingering pain/effects from the whiplash and now I am seeing a chiropractor for some treatments.

This is why I drive in a big armored truck. Ive bounced along the pavement plenty of times from knuckleheads taking me out on my Harley (and a few from my own idiocy, if were being truthful). That aside, Armoring up your truck pays dividends in the dirt AND the streets. Take care of yourself and I hope you heal up quick!

Don't get too excited. My JT got hit in the bumper at a low speed by an older ram and the impact crushed in my rear bed panel. I wouldn't recommend anyone keeping the stock rear bumper.

At 30 mph, that 5000 lb. vehicle hits with 220,000 ft lb of energy. A 5.56 has 1200 at the muzzle. Far too many licenses handed out without a psych eval or IQ test.

With that being said what about losing value on the jeep since it’s been in an “accident”. Does the insurance pay off the loss in value plus damage repairs?

Had the same thing happen the other day a lady rear-ended my black JTRD and she ate both tail hooks, but never reached the Genright bumper, it is tucked up tight and the tail hooks stick out about 5 inches. She wasnt happy, and I said well maybe next time you should stop. Think she hit me doing about 5-10 mph. PS I have a stock read steel bumper in my garage. between my 2012 JKUR and JTRD I have been rear-ended 3 times, one totaled a Honda fit one totaled a Honda crv and the Honda accord got broken plastic bumper and trim pieces
LOL, sounds like you need to start keeping victory/tally/kill marks on your JT like they do on fighter planes. My YJ's got 5 tallies from various "run-ins" with other vehicles where my Jeep suffered little to no damage, and none my fault (well maybe one). I use little skull and cross bones.
