Did they give you any kind of an extra warrantee after tearing into your engine?
Since my Gladiator received the computer update on July 14, 2020, I have not had any more CEL lights. I have had 3-4 ESS needs service lights, which reset after restart. All ESS needs service lights are right after first morning start of the day.

The computer update did NOT help mine at all. They said the CEL was still on plus mine vibrates with it running so rough. After it gets going it runs better but sometimes I didn't even know if I would get it out of our long drive. They had the engineer there yesterday all day and said they are making good progress. I have a great dealer. I am just not sure what to expect when they say, come on it, she's all fixed up! Hopefully. Because I do love that Jeep Truck.

Im still negotiating and have asked for an extended drive terrain warranty provided the vehicle is actually fixed. So far it's running fine, just need Chrysler to step up to the plate and take care of this repeat customer...

Just received call from the dealership. They had attached a fight recorder on the engine to check engine. The mechanic started it cold this morning and the engine had a flare up. This will be starting the fifth week my gladiator has been in the shop this summer (2 weeks in May/June -supposedly repaird and returned - and 3 weeks in late June/ July and counting}

Third time for engine faliure. Anybody know what can be done now? Purchased in January with 5725 miles on the Jeep.

Friday 7/24 update - I have not had a CEL since the computer update, but the Auto Stop Start light is still coming on periodically. It’s not always upon first start of the day, but is always upon starting and leaving my house. When it happens, it is as I am backing out of the garage and leaving my driveway. I have noticed it seems the engine is running rough when it occurs. I will be taking it back to the dealership sometime next week for them to continue troubleshooting what is actually wrong with the vehicle. Hopefully they can figure this out soon, and I realize I have been saying that for too long now!

I am on three months in shop original Gladiator and replacement after first buyback. The bud dates on mine were Dec 2019 and Jan 2020 me ESS starts when backing down driveway then escalated to CEL and misfires and terrible mileage. Asking for another buyback.

This sucks. I can't believe with those massive issues, FCA is not doing much. At this rate, they will lose to Ford soon.

I have two weeks on my software update and have not had the CEL return. I have had the Stop/Start unavailable message six times. I am being told by the service department it is the smaller battery that needs to be replaced.

My Gladiator has been at the dealership since June 4th for this. Tech support/engineering is completely clueless. We are coming up on 8 weeks straight in the shop for this visit (not the first time it has been there for this) and all they have done is molest my engine by shotgunning parts at it. Customer service has been just as bad if not worse than the tech support, I go weeks without getting a call/update. I've been a lifelong jeep owner and never envisioned myself without on,b ut that ship has sailed. @jeep I don't even know why your department exists. You're name and performance is nothing short of an insult to your customers.

Build date: 3/2019
Mileage when it first occurred: approx 270
How many times has it occurred: 1
What exact codes did it throw: Dealer did not show exact code
Is the issue on going? Y
If so, what has been done to try to solve the issue? It is still at the dealer
Was the issue ever fully resolved? N

I purchased a brand new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 7/19/2020 and the check engine light went off 7/23/2020 after normal road driving. I took it to the dealer the next day and they said it had an engine misfire code.

Do you all have any tips I can tell my dealer to look for or signs to look for that would imply this is going to be going down a rabbit hole?

Otherwise I love the truck and can’t wait to get it offroad.

Thanks!
Jason

Hi, sorry to hear this. Having been dealing with this since May (without a full resolution of the problem), I would refer your service advisor to this forum that discloses about 40 Gladiators with the same problem. Further, FCA has issued a service bulletin regarding a computer upgrade to the power control module (PCM) that seems to have been partially effective on some vehicles. As you can also tell from this thread, one owner, instead of the computer upgrade, had repairs made directly to the engine that appear to have worked.

Good luck!

If you are having the same issue the rest of us are then the code you’re Gladiator is throwing is the P0300 for multiple cylinder misfire. Ask your dealer if that is the code. Those of us on this thread have had that P0300 code in combination with the ESS “Unavailable Service ESS”. As Minnie2011 said there have been many attempts at a fix. Usually first visit we get “could not duplicate the problem.” Second visit-“bad fuel.” My service department actually said that I ran the gas tank too low. Somewhere around the 3rd visit some of us have had rebuilds of head’s, cams, cam phasers, cam sensors, and/or flashed PCM software. There has been a release of TSB 18-053-20 about 2 weeks ago. For some this seems to have taken care of the P0300. There’s a post on here from someone with some knowledge about why it probably works. Something about computer algorithms and the vehicle learning your driving habits. I’ve driven about 600 miles on the TSB 18-053-20 with no CEL. I have had the ESS not available light 6 times in two weeks since the TSB software update was performed. My vehicle has been in for service 5 times. I go back this morning at 10am for a new ESS battery that is supposed to fix that issue. Someone with a social media marketing degree from @JeepCares is going to post on this thread in about 24 hours and tell you they are very sorry for your problems with your Gladiator and that they would be glad to “escalate your concern to FCA” which means absolutely nothing. They will even tell you they are not mechanics. I’d be glad to pay $1000 less for my vehicle to not have some glorified FB-er or Tik Tok-er post a canned answer on a social media thread. Some folks have had to go as far as to have their Gladiators bought back. I think there’s two of those on here who have had their second Gladiator have the same issue. As for me, I’m going to tell them this morning that this is my last visit for these lights. I’ve already contacted an attorney and I have more than met the lemon law requirements in my state. You should research the lemon law in your state as well. I’ve enjoyed the 3 times I’ve had my vehicle on the ORV beach. I will also have paid nearly $50,000 for it when all is said and done minus any service or repairs of my own that I will have to do. I haven’t $50,000 enjoyed it so far nor do I trust it is $50,000 reliable. So long story short-if you really like the vehicle you are going to have to be patient with this process which means a possible 30 + days of your Gladiator baking in the summer sun on your dealer’s lot and your dealer’s technicians putting the first 1000 miles on your JT. You have to decide if you have that kind of patience. And if you have a good dealer you might walk away ok. If not, get an attorney and let them deal with FCA and @JeepCares once you meet your state’s lemon law standard. That’s pretty much it.

You are %1000 right. Jeep/FCA will do nothing but run you around. My Gladiator has been at the dealership since June 4th for P0300. My concern "was escalated " 6 weeks ago. I literally go weeks at a time without being contacted by Jeep, the case manager or the dealership. Zero faith in this company anymore. Lemon Law is the only alternative at this point.

I just don't understand why more of these have not been fixed. I had all the same issues with misfire codes, rough idle, CEL, Start/stop system light etc starting at 250 miles. They fixed mine after about 26 days in the shop with a complete top end replacement on the 2/4/6 cylinder side. I have not had the software update everyone is talking about. I've had mine back from the shop for over two weeks and have driven it about 1000 more miles without any problems. Additionally Chrysler is giving me a free extended warranty for my problems and for my piece of mind.
