I’ve had both the 3.6 and the 3.0. Pros and cons to both. Setup right, they are both great. It really comes down to what you want. If you test drove the diesel and liked it, the price difference is really nothing in this case. Plus you get to have the fun of modding another Jeep.

Diesel on 37s, and I'm averaging 24mpg over the last 3300 miles or 50/50 highway city. I absolutely love it.

that’s really good! If I could get that on 37s or even 35s I would be stoked.

I should add that I usually drive fairly slowly, like speed limit or a little below and lots of coasting to stop lights.

I will probably do 35s instead of 37s for that reason. But the sucky part is the Gladiator is so long you need 37s for those difficult trails ha ha. Which is why I was considering a Wrangler but I hate missing out on the bed for overlanding.

no towing for me thankfully.
I love my diesel gladiator on 37s but getting close to the factory stated mileage with them is unrealistic, but I still haven't gone back, lol.
You drive a diesel for the same reason you drive a Jeep: the fun factor.
I would not at all recommend against a diesel gladiator especially for a DD, (if I didn't have a JTD, I'd get a beater Wrangler trail runner for the weekends and a Ram 1500 DD) but know the facts going into it:

you can't have 450lbs turbo torque, 37" tires, and 24 combined mpg.
I don't know how much more mpg 35s will net you over 37s, but it probably won't be worth it.

I have to respectfully disagree with the guys who say they are getting 24 combined with 37s. I live in the flatlands of Florida, drive a little gentler than average, do a lot of highway driving at 65, it's not very windy here, and am probably in the very low 20s, and am not the only one surprised that I don't get 24 combined.
I can see getting 24 if one were to hyper-mile but that is a fetish which is unrealistic long-term.
And the screenshots of displays don't mean anything. I can make it look like my truck gets 30 with that.

Traded for the Sport S diesel. Best of the bunch... Sounds sweet.
That rattle on startup puts a smile on my face everytime...

yup, thankfully the way the market has been it’s made it easy.
Yea they offered me a bunch for my JT but just decided to stick with what I got. If I had to dive back into a daily commute to work I would have to seriously think about it or pull the Ruby Take offs and go back to stock type tire which I don't really want to do.

If you want it then get it. I have never owned a diesel before but I know my brother in law has had a ton of issues out of his ram diesel, engine issues. They are still trying to figure it out and it's only at just over 10,000 miles now. Been in the shop more than he has driven it it seems like. Could just be that one out of 1,000 that's a lemon who knows. I also don't know how much the difference is on Maintenance but on my JT 3.6 I haven't had to pay a dime for maintenance and I'm right at 40,000 miles and I still got 9 more free oil changes left. I'll probably drop a new air filter in it after the next oil change, so that will end up being the only money I've spent out on Maintenance when that happens. I have always wanted to own a diesel but the maintenance factor has always scared me away.

Love my diesel. I'm averaging about 24mpg on a mostly stock JTRD driving speed limit 80/20 hwy/ city. I was hoping for a little better mpg, but it's in the ballpark. I've owned a couple of Jeeps with the 3.6 and I'm just not a fan of that motor. The diesel makes the whole driving experience so much more enjoyable imo.
