Does anyone know if you csn disable the tazer feature that turns on the reverse lights if you hit the unlock button 3x? It's bugged where it's sometimes doing it with a single press. At night you may not realize they are on until you are blinding everyone on the highway. Sucks.

Press the lock button. It's actually 5 times that turns on the backup lights. 3 times turns on the bed lights.

Lock button only turns it off before you start driving. Doesn't work while diving.
Also, I want to turn it off period. I don't want this feature.

?! What's that!!!
There's a post in the DIY section on how to add the Proximity Locks feature if the truck wasn't ordered with them from the factory. Touching the door handle unlocks the doors, and the FOB never has to come out of your pocket.

Ahh. Yeah, $400 investment according to the writeups. Meh. I would rather the tazer disables this feature.

Contact Tazer Support. I would think there should be an option to disable the feature. Maybe they can add it to the next update.

Only like $150 if you just get the drive door kit. That’s what I did, it’s one of the best mods to the truck I’ve done so far out of all of them.

I totally second this! The first door took me about an hour and less than 30 minutes for the passenger side. Well worth both the money and the time invested. It was an easy mod just don't be afraid to pop the pins out with some gusto and the only thing that sucked was getting the door latch harness out.--On my driver side it didn't want to free itself. Oh yeah, don't mix up the two door harnesses, the driver side and passenger side are different (no duh, but I didn't pay attention and had already put everything pretty much in place and didn't realize it until connecting the last bits of the harness in place).

I did both and I'm sure it didn't cost any 400 bucks. And the nice thing was that after I had it all done, I had it all programmed and working, I went to the dealership where I normally get warranty work done and took it in for the wave oil change - and told them I had added passive entry and it was working fine. I told them I had heard that a dealership can contact Jeep, give the VIN and have the sales code for passive entry added to my VIN, they download a new flash for my truck and from that point on, any time there's an update to any part of my truck that requires a flash, it will keep the passive entry settings (I don't have to put anything back in!)
I explained that I knew there'd be a charge for that work, that it wasn't warranty, etc. I had been told it would be $50-100, depending on what was involved with contacting Jeep.
When the oil change was done they came to the waiting area to get me, demonstrated the passive entry and said it was now part of my VIN and would show up in any reports of equipment on my truck.
Charge? $0 They did it for free.
Now THAT is service.

Don't have to touch the key fob for much of anything these days.

I did the install in my garage when the temps were about 35-40 degrees. (my heated shop was full of other cars being worked on)

Have you tried pressing the lock button on the fob?

Have you tried pressing the lock button on the fob?
Yup! Let me recap:

Scenario 1
Jeep is Off.
I press unlock 3x and the reverse lights turn on.
You press Lock, the reverse lights turn off.

Scenario 2
Jeep is Off.
I press unlock 1-3x (at random, 1 press may do it) and the reverse lights turn on.
You press Lock, the reverse lights turn off.

Scenario 3
Jeep is Off.
I press unlock 3x and the reverse lights turn on.
I don't realize the reverse lights are on and start driving.
You press Lock, the reverse lights do not turn off.
You stop the car. You press Lock, the reverse lights turn off.

The Tazer is inconsistentin the number of presses required and it's an annoying feature to begin with. I would like a way to trigger this feature off.

Also, the core reason why it's a very bad situation is that I have an aftermarket bumper with some Rigid pods in it. Between those and the Oracle taillights (which are a little brighter than stock), it's blinding people on the highway. I have to pull over, turn off the Jeep and then hit the lock and leave the vehicle to verify it worked, so I can pull BACK on to the highway.

Are you on the most current firmware?

I updated it a couple months ago when I installed it, but haven't gone back to it since to check. Again, even if the inconsistency was solved I would still look to disable the feature.
