Taking our 22 willys into the dealer to have them install a trailer brake controller. I was told it will need a reflash to incorporate the new feature. My question is, currently my Tazer mini is used to set the gear ratio and tire size after the gear change. Will their reflash mess with that? Should I rest the truck to factory, Then reistall the Tazer after they are done? Trying to avoid potential problems, as my local dealer is not great with any non stock things.

Based on this alone, I would remove it before service. It's safer not to play with fire.
Agreed. No reason to give the Dealer a way out if something should go wrong with your Willys while in their care.

There is no flash required for a trailer brake controller installation. It does not integrate with the truck electronics or computer systems.

Tazer recommends unmarry and remove whenever taking it to the dealer for service.

I dont care about warranty at all. More concerned that of they try to refresh something it will glitch, that's all. If it doesn't need to be refreshed then maybe I'll install it myself.

There should be some threads in the Towing or DIY section on installing the Mopar Trailer Brake Controller. I think the most difficult part is getting the 12 volt power port out of the dash so the controller knob can be installed.

Sweet, I will dig some more tomorrow. I have a great working relationship with my local dealer, they just are not up to speed on aftermarket stuff. Thanks for the help all!

Write down all of your current settings, so you can remember what to reconfigure
Then unmarry it before bringing it in.

like already said...it's basically just a 3rd party add-in made for MOPAR. no flash involved. they have never installed one in a Jeep, obviously.

Install it yourself. I installed the MOPAR trailer brake controller on my 2020 JT, then when I traded for my 2022, I removed it from the '20 and put it in my new '22.
So I guess I have installed one of these two times.
I've also installed Redarc's controller - a very nice one, but I preferred the OEM look of the MOPAR unit so that's where I'm at today.
And the MOPAR unit will either have a 2 year warranty, or it will inherit the remaining warranty of your Jeep - which-ever is longer. So if you have 2 years and 6 months left of the truck warranty, the brake controller will be considered part of the truck and have 2 years and 6 months.
If your Jeep has 1 year left, the brake controller will keep the 2 year warranty.

It's literally plug and play. No software, no flash, nothing to program.
(with one exception - if you have a 2020 model year JT made before sometime in January 2020. Then there's a TSB as it will need an ABS flash. )

I may just do it myself, Its really a time constraint for me at this point. My centerforce clutch is coming in today, so I will be installing that tomorrow night. Getting ready for a 4 hr drive in two weeks, pulling out side by side. I also like the look of the factory controller.
