Hello,

I am looking for some assistance " HELP" regarding my Jeep's steering and alignment after installing a Steer Smarts YETI XD Drag Link.

My Jeep rubicon currently has a 3-inch lift kit and 37-inch tires. After installing the lift and replacing the factory drag link with the YETI XD DragLink, I took the vehicle back to the shop that installed the lift. Unfortunately, they were unable to properly align the Jeep.

I then contacted Steer Smarts for assistance and was referred to a dealer about 52 miles from my home called Texas Truck Works, which sells Steer Smarts products and stated they could perform the alignment. After paying for the alignment and driving the Jeep, I noticed thesteering wheel was still not centered and the Jeep continues to pull to the Right, which is the same issue I was experiencing before.

When I returned and discussed the problem with the shop, they showed me the alignment readings on their computer and stated that everything was within specification and that there was nothing further they could do. They also mentioned that they had stopped selling theYETI XD Drag Link because they had experienced issues with it in the past.

I contacted Steer Smarts again to explain the situation and ask if there were any other recommended shops in the Houston area that couldhelp diagnose and correct the issue. However, I was informed that the only other recommended location was in Dallas.

At this point, I am looking for recommendations for a qualified shop in the Houston area that is experienced with lifted Jeeps, Steer Smartssteering components, and proper alignment of vehicles with 37-inch tires.

Any assistance, HELP, feedback, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Some aftermarket steering stabilizers are not fully 'neutral' and will push the steering slightly while driving.

Your Fox stabilizer may be one that does such. Surprised no shop thought to check that.

I did a quick search and found that some folks with Fox stabilizers have had this issue. It happens with some other brands as well.

If your steering wheel still isn't straight, you can fix that in your driveway with hand tools. An alignment rack is not needed/used for that.

Summary:

Try a stock stabilizer, or simply remove yours and see if the pull goes away, and have any 4x4 shop double check the steering wheel if you can't. Original shop probably got lazy and didn't pull the truck out and take it down the street to verify the wheel is perfect.

Do you not have any other 4x shops in the Houston area? Even if they’re not “authorized dealers” steer smarts is a pretty common upgrade on these. Most shops should have a working knowledge of them. I’d be very concerned that the shop you went to had to rely on a computer to tell them it was right. A good off-road shop should know better. Computer gets ya in there but a magnetic angle finder and a ruler will tell you better if the customer says “it ain’t right”.

I had the full Steersmart XD setup on my Diesel that has 6inch lift, 1 tons on 42s and never had an issue with alignment or steering other than constantly bending the bar or breaking the end link. The issue may be with the griffin as I understand it, it is supposed to absorb shocks to the wheel. When you are turning the wheel or they are doing the alignment it is possible that the griffin is taking some the load and when then alignment is done everything is off because the griffin goes back to neutral. This is just my thoughts and I could be completely off base with them as well. I didn't have the griffin on mine. The shop I take mine too also measures the wheels on each side and makes sure everything is actually centered as well.
