Excellent video. Thanks for posting. I bought the Dynatrac ball joints for my 2022 392 and it made a big difference and made the steering more precise and solid feeling than the Jeep had been even when brand new and totally stock. I had them installed by a local offroad shop that I have been using for years. One of the co-owners of the shop is also the crew chief for a Trophy Truck desert race team. He has more experience with off road vehicles than anyone I know and has driven countless numbers of them. He had to test drive my Jeep to center the steering wheel, because I had also installed a Metalcloak drag link and tie rod at the same time. After driving it he said he had never driven an offroad vehicle with such precise steering that felt so solid and predictable. He looked like he was serious about that when he told me. It's that good. I only had 12,000 miles on my 392 at the time but after 3 tips through the Rubicon and countless trips to Moab there was already visible play in the tie rod and drag link ends. Looking back, I wish I would have upgraded the steering sooner.

I have a 2025 2-door JL that I am just starting the build process on, with the plan for 38s. After watching this video, I think I'll go with Metalcloak ball joints this time. And same goes for our 2023 JT Mojave. It has a Mopar lift and 35" Nitto Trail Grappler tires. It has a case of the wanders on the highway that I have attributed to either the tires or the Mopar lift not being as complete as it needs to be. I only have 22,000 miles on it, but maybe it's time to do what worked on the 392. We'll see.

IMHO the rebuidables are the only way to go .. the main body of the ball joints doesn't have to be pushed out and pushed in wearing out the axle housing . One and done ✔ dyna trac or Metalcloak .

On my 2020 JT I had the sloppy steering as many did. Even after installing the sector shaft brace and a few other components it was still a bit sloppy. I only had about 15k miles. I swapped the DynaTrac joints in and it made a huge difference! It took two days of driving to get used to the new feel and to stop overcorrecting the steering that I was so used to with the factory joints.

Good video. Anyone with any mechanical aptitude can get what you are talking about and see the relative advantages for each.

Any idea on the mileage you had, and what you have now? Any degradation?

Loved my DynaTracs! I would recommend them over the non-rebuildables. I had them before the Baller Joints came to market but boy o' boy those are nice if they prove to have a good track record in the future.

good info. Passed the video on to my son who just had a bunch of front end work done on his lifted chevy pickup. He had several other things done too but this will help him understand why oem usually doesnt cut it once you add lift, big tires and wheels.
and why its better to “ buy once cry once” with pricing.

After watching this great video and doing some researching I was thinking I would need to replace mine. I now have just under 70000 on mine and just checked the ball joints. The stock ones are. solid tight. I do appreciate the video and will probably put the Teraflex set on when I do change them. No plan to do so until I need. My rig is a willy's and I upped my tires to 285-70-17. Also, I have 1" spacers on the wheels. Rides and works amazing. I do off road some. Usually dirt and mud trails, not really any rock crawling. Is it unusual to get this far before needing to change them???
