Let me preface the following by saying my wife is very supportive and loves my Gladiator (both of them).

But I will say when I was ready to sign for my 2024 Jeep Beach Gladiator, she cruised the showroom and fell in love with the '41 Edition Wrangler 4xe. She pushed for it hard. She got the salesman spiel and asked if we could test drive it. It did have the impressive sky one touch top, but I didn't like the 4xe regenerative braking feel and pivoted back to the Gladiator. But she still playfully gave me sh!t for a while.

Curious if others have had their spouse / partner try to undermine their Gladiator ownership?:CWL:

😂 I am the wife…. and the husband suggested getting a Gladiator (versus another Canyon). I fell in love immediately!

I leave my wife at home when shopping for my primary vehicles most times. She is not out of the loop that I am purchasing, just she has no interest in the actual buying process and the usual 3-4 hours it takes most times from walk on and drive off.

Going the other way, my wife insists I go with her when shopping for her primary daily driver. She knows she makes emotional decisions more than practical ones, especially when it comes to the negotiation on pricing and the hard sell in finance for add ons.

My wife's only complaint is that the more I spend on Gladiator parts is less money to spend on her Jeep.

Hell no, now that she has her Tuscadero Wrangler she's getting the upgrade fever too! Been fun getting her ready to take doors/top off this Spring.

We direct deposit into a shared account enough to cover bills and savings. Neither of us cares what the other does with the rest of their income.

My wife wants nothing to do with me purchasing a vehicle. For both my JK and JT, I placed factory orders and she gave me a ride to the dealership when they were ready to be picked up. She literally pulls up to the front door of the dealership, I get out, and she says "have fun honey" as she pulls away.

These are great responses. It's so interesting how couples have different ways to operate. And certainly you go with whatever works.

My buddy has a wife that called him and asked for their insurance policy number. He asked why. She said because she was trading in her Lexus for a Mercedes. He had no idea. :CWL: :CWL: :CWL:

Reminds me of when I bought a new 2018 Golf R that I totally didn't need. I just really wanted it. I had repeatedly told my wife about it, but she wasn't really paying attention to my rambling on about some 'stupid car'. So, when I told her I was going to buy it, she had completely tuned me out and said something like "that's nice dear", which is all I needed to hear. Now that was an awkward drop-off at the dealership. She pays much closer attention to what I'm saying these days.

Surprisingly wholesome thread.

Experiences on this forum ran the gamut. I'm envious of many and a little worried about a few. Many his-and-hers-Jeeps stories which are cute. A few "went to buy a base Sport but she loved the 392" stories where I sure hope the initial choice was well below their financial means and the college fund didn't get blown up in persuit of something shiny.

Meanwhile my truck ended up with a payment $50/mo higher than my wife's SUV and she asked me if I was going to get a second job. :(

Wheels are cheap. Get her a 41 JT and call it good.

That could be a whole off-topic discussion of it's own.
