My spouse is a female also, but we’re not lesbians, so please don’t pin that label on us. We’re both bisexual.

I served in the military, so I tend to handle the dirty jobs.
I feel better now, thanks. But it wasn't you I was looking to pin a label on, but rather a man who would let his wife change a tire.

Let’s see, Clark County, Nevada sales tax rate is 8.38%, which gives us $6561.54 in sales tax on a $78,300 purchase.

So none of you “numbers gurus” beating me up want to discuss why it was a bad route to trade instead of “cash sellling” it?

I don't think anyone is really going after you. Calling out inconsistent statements and criticizing comments isn't a bad thing. Most people here are supportive of each other and want to spread accurate information that will help others. People taking time to make suggestions and the different parts of your deal aren't (I hope) doing it to make you feel stupid. They are doing it in the hope that it will help you, and others, the next time you go to the dealership.

Of course potential sales tax savings have to be considered when doing a trade. I think trading (if in a state that has sales tax offset) is almost always the better way to go... even from a time/effort perspective. But, you use the cash value offers to leverage a better trade value. I don't think anyone here was actually suggesting cash selling it. It's a tool to be move informed on what you can realistically argue for... a number that reflects an accurate wholesale value.

Some of the instant offer sites won't give you an offer if the vehicle is too new, without reaching out to them for some clarification. The tool on YAA will give you an offer though. Give it a go in the future. You can also get pre-approved for financing through credit unions on their site and have that secured as a bargaining chip when you go into a dealership.

1. You negotiate the sales price of the new vehicle, including and fees.
2. Then and only then do you negotiate the price of your trade.

Any other way opens yourself up to being outmaneuvered by the dealer during negotiations.

You're up against a bit of a wall if they won't come down off the sales price though. No dealers should be charging markups on non-specialty vehicles in the current market (even going back a couple months). But, if you really wanted that truck and were unwilling to shop further afield to find one... it is what it is. If you're happy with the new truck, that is what matters. A gladiator to a super duty is a very different vehicle class. If you are happy with the later, I don't think the former would have even been an acceptable ride for you.

And damn.... 9% sales tax on vehicles in your state? That's brutal. My local sales tax is a bit over 8%, but vehicle sales are based off the overall state rate of 6.5%, no matter where in the state the vehicle is purchased. Vehicle purchases are usually exempt from any county and local tax.

Nope, no desire to break down the finances to that point. My original beef was with the back and forth representation of events and dialogue regarding the gladiator being an inferior product due to a single individuals experience.

Cheers ? enjoy the Super Duty.

I’m glad to see that you’re talking differently now. I basically did everything you said with the exception of first shopping for financing. Carvana, KBB, etc. wouldn’t give me a cash offer to use, so I went with the KBB online numbers.

Wow, so far OP has shown how little she knows of the points she complains about, argued with people that agree with her, and at this point is proving herself wrong when she replies to herself. Pretty clear now the goal of this is to show "how she can hang with everyone", thinking every post is a challenge. i.e., trolling.

This has become quite the entertaining read. It's especially fun when people can't seem to tell how they look to the world and persist anyway.

Waiting for the obligatory "I'm not but you are" response.

Keep it going!

How do we know you're just not here trolling us? lol

Just trying to share tools and advice to help fellow jeepers not get screwed over by dealerships.

YAA isn't spam though. Father/son that started a YT channel a couple years ago and it's grown into a nice community. They re pretty genuine. I'm not a paying member. But I have used their tools in the past to get price quotes and do market research.

YAA is a joke. I punched in the VIN, says I have to join to get the price.

Here is one I just punched in off a vin. Again, not a member and not logged in.

Got two offers and a third as pending.

The other buyers just must not want to buy your truck. Nothing wrong with that and it doesn't take them a "joke".

Why would I even know your old VIN? Regardless, I don't doubt it would spit out what you just got though. It just means no one they partner with wants to buy your truck.

People are just listing tools to put into your arsenal in order to help you in the future. These aren't personal criticisms or attacks.

So you viciously ripped into me about my negotiating skills and now you want me to walk into a dealership and say “I can’t get anyone to buy my truck?” And “but there’s nothing wrong with that,” I should add.

Does that summarize the conversation?
