They killed the real Hemi, a 426 back in the early 70s.
Well now apparently it's dead and buried. They're not releasing it in a smaller V-8, they're going to a V-6 and a turbocharged of some sort.

Here is the announcement:

Dodge's demonic supercharged V8 engine and the Challenger and Charger models that feature it will end production with the 2023 model year, the brand's boss has confirmed.

"I will have this car, this platform, this powertrain as we know it through the end of '23. There's two more years to buy a Hellcat, then it's history," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis
Dodge has already discontinued the limited-edition Durango SRT Hellcat SUV due to increasingly strict federal emissions rules and Kuniskis cited the regulations as a reason the engine would be retired.

I heard 3.0 twin turbo, a block based off the 3.6. Time will tell what they come up with.

Sad day. The 5.7 Hemi is probably my favorite modern everyday engine

The 392 Hemis are awesome, but I’ll probably never own one due to the cost. If that results in a more realistic power option, I’m fine with it. We are so far ahead of the ‘80s and ‘90s anyway, that whatever they come up with should be an improvement, as long as it’s gas-powered. I would welcome a new I-6 engine.

The Gladiator should have come with a 5.8 Hemi option.

I like the positivity. I’m sure it’ll be a fun powertrain. I’ll get an old classic muscle car if I want V8 sound anyway.

Guys, it's a 5.7L Hemi, not 5.8L. The only 5.8L I ever remember is the old Windsor 351 they used in a lot of Ford trucks back in the old days.

And insiders have said that the 5.7 Hemi isn't going away entirely. It'll likely still show up in the Ram pickups, and the next gen Challenger/Charger may use it with a hybrid system similar to what's in the Jeep 4xe.
