Let the flaming begin. The Ridgeline is loaded with safety features which this 58 year old appreciates. In the 10 months I had my Mojave, which got totaled, I hardly went in the dirt. And I live in the Mojave desert! They are about the same price after all of the dealer and Jeep discounts. I’m going be about as biased as most of y’all since I’m on a Gladiator forum. But I’d like to hear other people’s perspectives.

My father-in-law has a Ridgeline. On paper, it's a superior vehicle in every way, except offroad capability and towing capacity.

In practice, it is indeed roomier, quieter, and more efficient.

And it also just so, so dull.
If I’m not mistaken, the Mojave is rated at 4500 lbs. as opposed to 5000 on the Ridgeline. Is your father-in-law happy with his?

'Nough said...

Seriously tho. YOU're the one driving it. Doesn't matter what the price tag or features, if you don't like the truck, you're not gonna be happy.

If you aren't going to use the Mojave in a manner to take advantage of what it has to offer, then the Ridgeline is the more logical choice. BUT, you have to do what makes you happy, which could possibly involve making illogical decisions.

I live in Durango, CO & am 81 yeas old. I purchased a Mojave 21 months ago, making the switch from a TRD OR manual trans. My wife had sustained a broken left leg and a clutch was not in her future for a long time.
I test drove the field of available trucks in this category including the Ridgeline. We found it to be a great driver & loved many of the features. In the end we chose the 21 Mojave as it not only ticked more of the squares but it provided that extra measure of capability to insure a safe return from some desert trail turned gnarly. In addition the Mojave was a flat pleasure to drive on the road both in town & day trips. We tried a TRD OR with auto & found the drivability of the Mojave just more fun & the visibility out of the cab superior which is an important safety feature.
If we weren't doing dirt frequently the Ridgeline would be a contender.

My mother has a ridgeline. Theyre quiet, efficient, and pretty innovative with the bed design and storage. A HUGE draw back imo is their towing capacity and their infotainment system.

Towing weight capacity is okay, according to the owners manual. but the reality is that Honda says do not use any wdh, and my mothers rpod 153 squats her truck..and its not close to her max. It pulls fine, does struggle on hills. But the performance aspect takes more of a dive than our JTs do, imo.

the infotainment system is just…terrible. The UI is clunky and slow, and the interface with android auto is piss poor. I haven’t tried my iPhone yet, but i have no desire to after the overall bad set up and interface.

The rpod has a hitch weight of 350lbs

When I was looking to replace my commuter vehicle my sister recommended (insisted) that I get a Ridgeline. She uses Consumer Reports for her review research and they had it at #1 with their criteria being more overall affordability for general use.
I then read reviews from other organizations and Motor Trend had Jeep as the number one based on their criteria.
When I realized I could get another 100k out of my beater I decided to get the best vehicle I could afford for a weekend getaway vehicle. I had wanted a Jeep for years and that was the obvious choice and the Gladiator seemed better for me than the wrangler
I think it all depends on what you’re looking for in a vehicle.
I told my sister “It’s a Jeep thing”
Suddenly she likes Jeeps too. ?

How do the doors and top come off the Ridgeline :jk:
Years ago, I helped a friend remove the transmission from a '39 Ford that he was parting out. After careful study, I decided that the easiest way was to cut it out. Due to a long term hate for Fords in general, and a fondness for cutting Fords up, I chose to cut the car in half. Yeah, across the top, through the floor pans and frame. The only thing that the Sawzall wouldn't cut was the actual propeller shaft inside of the torque tube. Most fun I ever had pulling out a transmission.

For the Ridgeline, I recommend a similar procedure to remove the roof and doors. Might be fun to cut it completely in two and drive it on a public road, possibly past a police station. "Honestly, officer, this is an experimental Honda motorcycle, see, just two wheels."

Hard to go wrong with a Honda. Without looking it up, I am sure that it is quieter and more fuel efficient. It looks like a sedan they attached a truckbed to but the same can be said about a Gladiator when looking at a Wrangler.

At the end of the day, you buy a car for what you want to do with it. Gladiator is absolutely perfect for me because I plan to drive on sand surf fish with it a lot (I just got it—fall beach driving starts this weekend!!), I love convertibles, and I wanted a mid-sized pick-up in case I need to move things (or put sandy coolers, chairs, and rod holders in the back). I am rebuilding a house and it will have a garage so I plan to take the doors and top off and drive it whenever it isn’t raining.

The safety features on my 22 seem extensive to me. Side lane warnings, forward collision avoidance, rear camera and reverse collision warning.
But my last truck was a 02
