I have a 15 mile 80mph highway jaunt before I hit town - my LE with 33's gets about 17mpg and when I toss the bed rack and rooftop tent on it goes to 16. I've tried babying it around but getting close to 20 is not possible from what I see. I think its the highway miles at speed that kills me.
Drop it to 72mph, above that and fuel mileage starts to really drop. If it's a 15 mile trip, it'll only add a minute. I get 20mpg in my Rubi in my commute, 35 miles each way.

Day three and almost 200 miles on my Sport S rental now. I know others have logged much higher mileage and reported their experience. I'm just giving my .02 for what it's worth. Maybe I'm delusional with this new Jeep experience or something, but man this Glady is super. Since it's a Sport S it's just got the basics: no tow package, auto, no radio upgrade, soft top, spray-on bedliner. Cruising around with top and doors off, I find the basic Uconnect 5-inch radio adequate. Plenty loud for all conditions I’ve experienced. Though I will be shelling out the $ for the 8.4-inch premium in my Rubi when I order it. Not because it's needed, but because I'm a bit of an audiophile. The noise from this soft top ain’t bad either. I can carry on a conversation just fine at 65mph with it open. If I didn’t think the soft top was kind of ugly, I would be happy with it. Wife says she prefers it rather than the hard top I’ll be getting because it always there and ready for action. Gotta muscle the four-wheel drive selector a bit, but feels tight. Driving is an absolute pleasure. Plenty of power for my needs, though I wish I could test the towing. I pull an 18’ tandem axle trailer with a RZR, quad and dirt bike to the desert a few times a year. Total load is about 4000lbs. Watching the TFLTruck guys, I’m thinking I should be fine with the Rubi.
Get the dual top option... Freedom hardtop w/Soft top... you can swap ā€˜em anytime you want! Freedom top is also easily removed, especially the front panels, ā€œT-topā€ style! ;{

Day six. Tomorrow will be a sad day as I'm returning my Sport S rental. I will have put over 400 miles on it. I was surprised to not see any other JT’s on the road. I live in the San Diego area and there is a lot of traffic. Expected to see one or two. Anyway, really enjoyed the truck. More anxious than ever to get mine at the end of the year.

Found only one thing I didn’t care for. When parked with engine off and ignition in accessory mode so I can listen to the radio, the dash, radio and gear selector lights stay on bright. Really annoying when it’s dark outside. Googled the issue, but didn’t find a solution for the JT or JL. Oh well, minor issue.

Great truck for me.

After trading in my 2016 JKU on a Sport with the soft top I am very happy with my decision. Rides great, soft top not any louder than my hardtop on the JKU. I havent checked my hwy mileage yet, but definitely smiles pee gallon!

At least you didn’t fall to the Jeep sickness until you were in your 50s. I’ve had Jeep’s since I was 16. It’s been a long time living with this wallet lightning disease.

The soft top on my rental worked great. Only heard some moaning from it when I hit 80mph. I thought it was very easy and convenient to open and close.

On my Overland the dash lights were blindingly bright until i found next to the light switch you have a dimmer close to the steering wheel should be three clicks down it sets it to night mode, when it’s really bright outside you go a click up, and one more turns the cabin lights on

Hmm, with foot off vrack press power once, that's acc mode, with foot off gas press power button again, I think that's like an "on" position but says "run". Turn lights to spot 2, dial 2 all the way down, all lights are off or SUPER LOW.

I have been watching for rentals up here north of the 49th - but no joy so far. I've actually only seen one JT in the wild - and even though I live in a small city - 1/2 the driveways on my street have pickups in them - they are not on the roads. I wonder how they are selling up here.

On this Sport, it has no effect on the brightness with engine off and ignition in accessory mode.
