Tires and Lifts

Anybody do35s and a level? How about 35s and 2” lift? 35s and a 4” lift? I get the 35s in the morning but don’t know how much lift I want. I know I don’t want look like those trucks with the 6” lift and 31s or 33s. Any pics of the above mentioned lifts?

I didn’t as mine is a mojave with the optional wheels so they have a different offset, depending on your model and wheel choice? Need more details to give you a better answer

I put 35's on my rubicon from the factory. No issues. Since I have done a 2.5" lift. Looks good. Don't see any reason to go to 37's. I wheel with it often. Very capable. Do need skids if you wheel with it.

Amazing how the front tires always look so much bigger than the back ha ha ha that’s why I threw out that red herring concept of bigger tires on the back than the front to even it out ha ha ha ha ha ha… That concept went down in flames… Shadowspapa crucified me on that one! And rightly so!

Personally I wouldn’t go more than 2.5-3” on 35s, and even that is stretching it. Then again, I also wouldn’t run 35s on a gladiator when 37s are available

Well, I just bit the bullet big time by duplicating the entire suspension upgrade that Brad from Trail Recon YT blog just had installed. Just spoke to Jerry at Shift Auto in Escondido, California yesterday and parts are on order.

I was struggling with what I should do because I didn't want to tamper much with the stock Mohave suspension. My dilemma is that I decided on rigging my Mohave for overlanding and as you all know, those fabulously tuned factory Fox shocks are tuned for high-speed desert running and not heavy loads such as having a RTT, 270-degree awnings, and all the necessary gear associated without being way too tippy/bouncy up & down & side to side on most Western desert trails. I spoke to a couple very well-known suspension providers as well as a couple well known shops. I got (3) different suggestions from my inquiries. One was only to add 2 1/2" spacers to the rear without heavier springs. Another was to add only triple sprung heavy-duty springs, and another with HD springs and spacers with shock extenders. In their defense, I was adamant on attempting to retain my Fox's and did not want to do shock extenders and other geometrical necessary add-ons.

As I've learned, my added weight requires pretty drastic changes to enable the best performance. I will be able to recoup a bit by selling my front and rear Fox's that currently has 15K miles on them.

I went with what Brad did via Jerry's suggestion of AEV 2.5" - 3" Dual Sport RT Kit, Bilstein B8 8100 Series rear shocks for 2" to 4" lifts, Bilstein B8 8100 Series front shocks, and Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 35" X 11.5"-17 on my stock black factory rims.

The AEV kit comes with all the necessary alignment brackets, shims for drive shaft alignment, springs, etc.

I guess all I can say is if you play, you effen pay, no? "wink"

All said and done, I'm looking at about $9K OTD and probably less when my military discount and resale tax certificate is applied.

I know and agree with the fact that if overlanding was the initial intension, a Mohave is not the model to go with but, it is what it is and at least I have that killer looking hood scoop, eh? LOL!
