I'm placing an order for a 22 sport s this month, but I can't make up my mind on a few things. First, given the choice between painted fenders or unpainted, what opinions do you have about that? Also, the color is probably the most difficult decision I'm having. I currently own a black Gladiator, but I've narrowed it down to three colors for the new one: gobi, hydro blue, and sarge green (in no particular order.) I'm ordering it with the soft top if that makes a difference. I appreciate your opinions. Pics for attention.

I was torn between Sarge Green and Hydro Blue the leaning heavily toward the green. Saw them in person. I was still waffling until my wife said definitely the Sarge Green. Some times a little outside nudge helps. ;). I'm biased now to Sarge but Hydro looks really good in person. Go check them out in person if you can.

On painted fenders Jeep does some weird restrictions on packages. I wanted black fenders but couldn't have them with Max Tow at the time I ordered. Jeep also wouldn't let me get black wheels with the cold weather package.

Long story short, pick your must have options and Jeep may decide for you.

Since you asked, I’ll answer along the lines of how I ordered and why.
- Mojave - the ride fits my style best.
- Gobi, limited run that I like and is seemingly very popular and sought after.
- black 3pc HT, security for downtown parking and I believe I’ll get most over penny back in resale.
- auto, tow, Aux switch, & remote start; convenience and resale.
- Black fenders, 1. I like the look, 2. I’ve seen painted fenders with a pinstripe scratch and I can’t unsee that horror, 3. Lastly, a lot of people like to invest in aftermarket fenders, so since I don’t personally love the painted fenders myself, I assume the guy in the resale market who will be in line someday to buy my rig will only pay up to a price without painted fenders.

I went with painted fenders on my Jeep as I’m not a fan of having unpainted plastic fenders that will only be black for a short time and then turn grey from sun fade (Florida sun will ruin everything). I’ve taken my Jeep on off-road excursions all over the Florida peninsula, and haven’t had any issues with pin-striping on fenders. As far as colors go that’s purely subjective. I like Sarge but in some lighting it looks almost black. Gobi is great if you want a lighter color that isn’t white or grey. (It was one of my top 3 colors when I bought in July 2020 but I couldn’t find a dealer willing to negotiate on one and ordering had just closed). Hydro is an exceptional color, but you’ve really got to like bright colors cause it is very blue. Ultimately I’d try and look at each color in person if possible. The online configurator doesn’t do the best job of actual in-person representation.

Congrats!

Fenders: I like the black look personally. My gladiator is black so I don’t mind that they’re painted but any other color I would go unpainted. Matches the top nicely whether it’s soft or hard (unpainted).

Color: All three colors are nice. Personally I tend to play it safe (hence my black JT) and would go green but I saw that blue in person and boy did that stand out. I saw someone on here upgrade to some bronze wheels on that color and was drooling ?

Hope that helps. You can also start a poll to see what the majority votes but it’s ultimately what fits YOU better.

As others have said, go see then in person. The colors have different looks in different light.
There's been debate on hard top vs soft top, https://www.google.com/search?q=har...EKB3EQrQIoBHoECA0QBQ&biw=376&bih=778&dpr=2.88.
I like the black unpainted fenders as they're cheaper to replace when damaged.

When I first started looking I thought Gobi was the shiznit.
Then blue became a non negotiable.
But I ordered it w black interior and haven't been satisfied except for the red dash which I thought I'd hate.
Talked to the wife about selling this one and ordering green w tan leather.
She said, "Okay but you'll look like a forest ranger. 'Sorry kids, the park is closed and don't feed the bears.'"
She cracks me up sometimes, lol.

Guess I'm keeping the blue for now.

So another thought on hard vs soft top. I like the hard top look and the freedom panels. I just wish the back seats had freedom panels as well. Soft top seems easier to drop when you want to go naked.

I may do a Sunrider at some point in the future.

Thanks for the input. I have a soft top on my current Gladiator (a 2020 that I bought used) and I love it. It originally came with the hard top, but I love the look of the soft top and found another owner willing to trade with me. I ran it all winter and didn't notice any difference with temperature fluctuations, and not a significant increase in the noise level.

I would go painted fenders. I have had too many Jeeps with the dulled out black flares that always end up looking like shit.

Color wise....Sarge or Gobi. Both great colors IMO.

I went Sarge Green (with painted fenders)and love the color. I currently have a black hardtop, but it would look great with a black soft top like you are getting.

If I could do it over I would've gone premium soft top off the bat and skipped the hard top.

I was worried about how well it would insulate in the cold weather but it's really no worse than the hard top imo. Quieter than I expected also.

Hard tops allow for roof racks.

I almost went with the green until I saw my gobi next to one. So glad I didn't! I love the gobi!
