Torque Front lower control arm

Hi all,

i was installing today the mopar 2inch lift kit. I worked so far on a lot ofGerman cars, but I haven’t see torque specs so high. I tried to torque the lower control arm bolts to 190lbs as instructed in the manual, but due to the angle I couldn’t get it done. I think I maxed out at 150lbs. Any tips would be highly appreciated

Longer torque wrench, pipe over the end or do more of your own tire rotations. While you should lift with your legs, your arms will still get stronger.?

I had my front axle on jack stands and crawled under. I positioned my torque wrench In a way that I could push with my leg and bingo!! Turns out my legs are much more powerful than my arms!! Lol ?

On a sort of related note, I bought a Milwaukee 1/2 drive fuel impact this week that claims 1000 ft lbs of torque going in and 1400 ft lbs going out. Hell that would Twist those big control arm bolts off!! Haven't used it yet.

What I find odd is that the MOPAR lift kit gives LOWER torque for the control arms than the factory specs!
I used the factory specs.

Anyway, on the rear lower control arm bolts, that was simple - short jack stand next to the truck, long extension to reach the bolt, wrench holding the nut on the other side. Rested extension on jack stand.
The front was more tricky - I was able to get those from the front of the truck.

I got it done 3 times. Once when installing the longer control arms on my 2020, once when removing them to trade it in, then again when I put them on my 2022 JT.
Doesn't hurt that the torque wrench is fairly long.
Anyway, the fronts I did from the front of the truck. Not under it

Don't compare to "German cars" - you mentioned why the torque specs are so different - those are CARS, not trucks with crazy stress on the control arms.

Do the initial torque using the torque wrench (103).
Do the + degrees (145 degrees) using the Impact. It's not difficult.
There are 360 degrees in a circle. 180 is a half circle. So you want a slice of pie less than a half circle.

Yeah, that's another way to do it.
All the impact is doing is rotating it the correct number of degrees, so not a big deal about how it gets there as long as the first torque is via wrench.

I guess I had no problem, but then I also broke a body bolt with a 15" breaker bar, so maybe I just don't realize what all those years of labor and lifting did.........

Here I was thinking I was clever for using a jack to turn the wrench for me, never occured to me to just go to 103 and hammer the line home with ugga duggas to spec.

That's what I did one of the times - I used a jack to lift the wrench. On the other side it was a down push so wasn't hard to do.
It's one reason I keep my little floor jack handy. And you can position the push in the center of the wrench handle where it's supposed to be applied anyway.
