We've got a nice weekend coming up and I'm thinking of (finally) getting the top and doors off, at least for a couple days. I'm also bringing our camper home for some maintenance and was wondering, has anyone towed anything with the top and doors off?

Would that potentially have any issues, any extra "flexing" of the body or the like?

I tow my 18 foot boat with no doors or top pretty often and never have any issues or noticed any flex.

No it's totally fine and honestly my CMM mirrors have better reach and angle for towing anyway. U-haul however, just fyi, will not allow you to tow if you show up with no doors or no roof. They tried to say I couldn't tow at all at one point, because i had a "convertible". Took me a min to explain to them that even the Hard top ones are "convertible" too and both aren't true convertibles as they retain their cabin overhead framing always. And that's why a convertible car is on their "do not tow with list" but the Jeep Gladiator is in the drop down for rated vehicles.

I wouldn't worry about it, its rated to tow with the soft top and that isn't structural

Zero issues.

I even picked up a rain fly on Amazon for such occasions. Tow with no doors, get there, pop the freedom tops in the bed and carry on about your business.

Good weather towing only. 🤙

No problems towing my utility/camping trailer for thousands of miles on the Trans America Trail 2 years ago. Totally top and doorless.

I towed with my 392 my pop up that weighed 3500# with Doors and top off only an hour drive to the beach. It was funny because even with the exhaust going through the muffler every time I left a red light when you put a load on the jeep it will by pass the muffler automatically. So everyone thought i wanted to race lol.

Towing Topless and doors off it the reason I bought a gladiator ...
I have a zuk based buggy, that I now have to haul, I was missing open air ride on the way to the trails like when my sami was street legal
That said top off doors off isn't bad, you lose the blind spots the top and doors create

Towing topless...I have the BestTop SunRunner top on mine. I keep it closed because when we travel, it's like a 6-7 hour drive one way, and that wind and wind noise can make one even more tired than usual.

Ergo, top closed when towing. Open when bopping around where we're staying though :) :) :)

Any body on frame vehicle does not relying on the body for any support when towing. The strength is in the frame only.
