You lose the 12V outlet with the Mopar one though, right?

Yes. Other than the 'factory look' it provides, the Mopar Brake Controller offers no distinct advantage over the other brands available.

Figure another $50 for the little hardware button on the dash that let's you hit the brakes directly - so worth it. Borrowed a double axle cargo trailer from work last night, adjusting for the brakes took two pushes of the button.

Eliminates the objection that you have to have your phone app up in your face the whole time you use it.

Catch elminated.

So only $200 and no taking apart the dash? Why would anyone use anything else what’s the catch?

There isn't a catch. Well, other than reports of it falling out of the receptical while driving down the road due to it's weight and length, reports of it causing the trailer brakes to pulsate if you need to use the hazard lights due to electrical interference, the fact that you can't make any setting changes unless you pick up your cell phone with is illegal in most states, the fact that it costs more than almost every other brake controller on the market, etc......

All I can say is I've used mine many times without issue and love it.

I just hooked up my old Tekonsha Prodigy P3 with one of their plug and play harnesses and it works great. mounted on the knee bolster below the cabin temp sensor grille.

You should look at the Tekonsha Prodigy RF controller. The box mounts on the trailer and is controlled with a handheld device. No wires or mounting anything in your Jeep. We have one trailer and two Jeeps. All I have to do is hook up, plug the handheld into the 12V, and I'm good. No buying a controller for each Jeep. Can be used with any vehicle as long as you have the handheld. The controller can even work without a handheld, it just uses the last settings.

I have used many brake controllers in many vehicles and the Curt Echo is my favorite thus far. No ’catch’ that I have found towing from California coast to the mountains of Idaho, Oregon, and Colorado. I originally bought it to use until the Mopar controller came out, but I am not replacing it.
