The jeep is shifting erratically, it keeps upshifting and downshifting like crazy. It's been to 2 dealers and they said it is ok, well today the dealer told me my payload is too heavy. This is what I have on the Jeep, Rebel Rack (165lbs), Barricade Bumper (79lbs), Smittybilt winch (67lbs), and the decked draw system (205lbs). That is not close to the payload max. Any Ideas?

Oh yeah.......it has 20k miles

OP, Lunentucker meant that there’s a way to display the current gear even when the transmission is in Drive. You have to configure it in the dash settings.

Also, what size tire you running?

I miss understood what he meant. I'm running 35

I used a Flash-Cal to adjust for the tires and it does it when it's calibrated and when I put it back to stock.

Hmm. I can’t remember where my RPMs settle while cruising at 75, but I know it’s under 2500 in 8th gear. For 7th, I definitely don’t remember. I also have 4.10 gears on my Sport S so it may be moot (35s as well)

Scroll down in the setup screen so select what’s in the photo. Then your gear will show up beside the D or M if in manual mode.

That's how mine drives and shifts on 37's with 4.10 gears, yours should be better than that for sure on 35's.

Also for reference I have Front and rear steel bumpers added to mine and a badlands winch which weighs 69lbs. Bumpers are probably all together right at 200lbs. I also carry a numerous amount of tools under the rear cargo seats, if I had guess probably 60 to 80 pounds worth of those. Plus 37 12.5 17 tires.

Well I went back to speak to the mechanic that worked on the Jeep. He told me again the payload was to heavy. So I had the Jeep weighted and it was over the payload, weighing in at 6K. Im gonna have it regeared and see if that helps.....I do tow a small travel trailer and was told to look into 4.88 gears.......Any suggestions?

If it's shifting up and down on level ground, holding speed with no throttle change. It's not a payload issue. Would be no different if you're carrying vs towing the weight. Somethings wrong. Did you do a full reset, pull grounds and let it sit overnight? Find a different dealer.
