I dropped my Glad off Sunday night at the Jeep dealer. They said the tranny needs a modual for the torque convertor to stop it from clunkung in reverse or drive. They have to order the part. I have to call them back to see how long it will take to get part and fix the POS. All my years of owning cars and trucks I never had major problems in the first 10k. I'm in a lease, if it takes to long I'll trade it in . But on what, The Ram is having trouble with there trans and engines. The only thing is a Wrangler, I wonder what problems they have with there engine and trans. They have a Chevy dealer across the street , but they have problems also. Has anybody else have had this transmission problem with there Glad auto. I'm in O.C. MD for two months on school vacation. What a bummer for surf fishing. Thanks,

Yep got the same problem. Now with 10k your well ahead to just bite the bullet and wait on the part . Mine started this BS at 90k and Im at 129k .. it took me this long to get it corrected why ?? Cause I put up with it and I saved my money and figured at such high mileage and no warranty I was better off going with another transmission and that is what I did. Transmission is setting at the dealership waiting for me to drop the truck off for it to be replaced . To say I am bubbling with anticipation of no more clunk in Reverse is probably an understatement. Mine has actually got additional problems like a super hard shift into 4th and simply flat out failing to go into reverse. The code it throws is " no message signal from TCM " ( transmission control module.
With the new Valve body and TCM and possibly D-clutch replacement I was better off buying another transmission and then taking the old one and saving my money up and having it rebuilt and then I will have another refurbished transmission on standby should this happen again.
I dont want another payment . So I aint buying another truck ( I have driven them all and this Gladiator is the most capable truck I ever owned and for the line of work I do I need a off-road capable vehicle that will practically go anywhere . ( and it does believe me , people would crap their pants if they seen the $#!t I have done with this truck 😂. Wait on the part have it fixed under warranty . That's your best bet .

Jeep isn't "having problems with their transmissions". You have a problem with yours, but it's very rare, not a common thing.
These are used in Wrangler, and other Jeep models - versions are used in BMW and other makes of cars as well. It's a solid, well-engineered transmission. Sucks to have problems, but it's not a real common thing..
Wrangler will be the same engine and transmission unless you get the 2.0 engine or a 4xe.

Does the clink going into reverse cause problems or it is just annoying?

Mine is so violent it is a Cur thud . Will rock the truck it has scared me a couple times. Mine sometimes requires multiple tries , clearing that code and even a very very slight tap if the accelerator. But often if I run through the gears a couple times from park to drive and over into manual 1 and 2 then back into park and then try reverse half the time it will go . I have just learned to avoid going in reverse.

PaPa , you won't believe what happened. I lucked out. I get a call back from the service dept. There is nothing wrong with my trans, the service tech reported on another Glad he was checking out. Mine had no codes, engine or trans. Just needed grease on the front brake calipers. Drive line was tight. But I feel for the other guy's Glad . I picked it up yesterday. I'm back in love with the truck. Thanks

What transmission are we talking about here? Attached to a gas or diesel engine?

That is going to increase your fuel mileage. I would think if you had a brakepad dragging you would have had a hot brake or a pull to one side. Wait a minute, the brakes are supposed to be set when shifting into a fwd or rev gear. So your issue wasn't when shifting it was when releasing the brake? I'm not to sure about that fix. I hope your issue does not return. Look on your work ticket and see if they did an update of any kind.

Not draging , just made a click noise when you let foot off the brake when taking off in the morning. I never noticed a problem with the brakes, It's what the dealer said, brakes always worked great. Dealer said the brakes where ok, they just wanted to apply some grease . MPG is 16 in town, and 22 to 23 hwy. I just run it into the dealership if I even think I may have a problem . It's better recorded on there records if down the road something major happens. I don't trust Stellantis. The trans would make a little clunk sound when putting her in drive after morning warm up. Trans always shifted great, up and down shifting. Two seperate problems I think I had. I had the front end checked and retorqued for a cliking noise when turning when the Glad was new. I wanted it check for the same thing. Thanks all.
