A surprise to me a couple months ago when I realized I didn't have DRL's on my 2020 vehicle. Yes, they are not required by law.Just did a little research. Learned something. In the US, DRLs are not required by the OEM. That was news to me.
As of 2020, the DRL’s come standard on every trim outside of Sport/Sport S. Sport only gets DRL with Max Tow, otherwise you just get a single turn signal bulb in the fender. The Sport S comes standard with just turn signal bulb on fenders, unless you get either Max Tow package, or you get the body colored fenders. I have a Sport S with painted fenders, and the DRLs. But I didn’t like the stock halogen units, so I upgraded to an aftermarket LED system.
Valuable in hunting season when you want to pull into lots with lights down/off.There's also an option in UConnect to turn DRL off.
Just purchased a 2021 Sport S with the Max Tow package (that included daytime running lights, by the way); curious about your statement about the lift on the cheap. Would you mind explaining, and does it impact tire size that will fit? Thanks very much!your buddy got the “max tow” package. The max tow package is a whole lot more then the normal tow package. It’s a $900+ option. If you want to lift a gladiator on the cheap, it’s the option to get.
1. Rubicon width axles
2. 4.10 gears
3. The wider two piece fenders
4. Bigger fan
5. Upgraded springs
6. Daytime running lights
7. Newer versions get limited slip differential
Max Tow gives you the wider axels off the Rubicon, and suspension components from the Rubicon as well. Both of these things allow you to fit tires up to 35” without needing to lift the front of the truck. However, I’m not sure I’d say that’s the cheaper route. There are a lot of quality lifts out there that are extremely cost effective.Just purchased a 2021 Sport S with the Max Tow package (that included daytime running lights, by the way); curious about your statement about the lift on the cheap. I’m talking to the gears. The implication is that you can lift and put bigger tires on a max tow without a regear. 4.10s are perfect for 33s. Good enough for 35s and not too terrible with 37s.Just purchased a 2021 Sport S with the Max Tow package (that included daytime running lights, by the way); curious about your statement about the lift on the cheap. Saw the post from Demo-slug regarding gearing and lockers, which I understand (up to a point). I am more interested in your comment(s) above about tire size. Got that the front will take up to 35s without a lift; same for the back? Again, thanks!Max Tow gives you the wider axels off the Rubicon, and suspension components from the Rubicon as well. The rear will fit 35’s with no lift. The reason tire size is limited on the front, is due to the rake on the vehicle. The front is lower than the rear. On anything other than Rubicon and Max tow, the gap between the tire and the top of the fender is closer, which restricts tire size. By lifting the front to match the rear, effectively eliminating the rake, you’re able to fit bigger tires. The Max tow uses rubicon fenders due to wider axles which are mounted higher and give you more front clearance.Saw the post from Demo-slug regarding gearing and lockers, which I understand (up to a point). Max tow does not use Rubicon fenders. It has it's own fenders that are basically sport fenders with an extra lip. So you can fit the wider axle and keep the tires covered to be legal in all 50 states but you don't get the extra space for larger tires like a Rubicon with it's raised fenders. So 35 inch tires may rub in the front on a Maxtow under certain cercumstances just like on a regular sport or an overland. The rear will fit 35’s with no lift. This. Rubicon specifically (and only the Rubicon) has high clearance flares. The max tow vs regular flares are an extra small bit of plastic making it wider. That covers the rest of the tire and helps to protect the body with the wide Dana 44s. When I swapped my max tow fenders for rubicon fenders, I gained between 3/4 to 1 inch in clearance.This. Rubicon specifically (and only the Rubicon) has high clearance flares. I believe there are threads here that talk about tire sizes and rub specifically. If I remember correctly some brands may work while other, more aggressive ones, may not.
Yes, you can modify the fenders to get additional clearance. But it is still clearly a differnt fender then the one on the Rubicon which actually mounts the fenders higher and doesn't need the inner liner removed to clear larger tires. The max tow and sports have three plastic air dam that causes the rub. Removing that, or trimming will give the needed clearance that the Rubicon fender has without the trim piece.
