Has anybody found a storage option for where the factory spare tire location is? After moving the spare to the bed I’d like to use the space under the bed to hold soft shackles, winch extensions, tree savers, etc.

I’ve seen the water tanks that fit under the bed, but I want something to put gear in.

Google would've helped with finding another thread that also reached a dead end.

I'd kill for an aux diesel tank that filled that void flush with the bottom of the frame rails

Try long ranger out of Australia they have a distributor in Canada. Installs on the driverside with no exhaust mods was cheaper than long range america

Me also. I’ve been looking at various fuel cells a little but think I need to get serious about it. I’m sure there’s something that will fit.
I did see a custom fuel cell mount. I’ll dig around and find the link. If I remember correctly it was close to $1000 without the fuel cell which was another $1000

They have one for the gasser. I don't know what all might be involved to convert to work with the diesel or if that's even possible. I imagine it'd just be the lift pump and the necessary lines/wiring but I'm ignorant to how the differences in fuel may affect other materials.

At one point DV8 made a bumper with a drawer for such things. Not sure if they still do. Maybe you can find one somewhere.

I couldn't think of a worse place for recovery gear. Wherever you could have stored the recovery gear inside the cab or the bed will be filled with the wet suit and scuba gear you'll need should you get stuck in a water crossing. Then there's deep mud or snow, the only places I've ever managed to actually get a built jeep stuck and the last thing I want to do is crawl under the back of the thing at that point. Using that space for a water tank or an air tank that you can plumb somewhere readily accessible makes sense. Recovery gear? Hard pass.

Extra recovery makes sense to me to store there because I do a lot of recoveries of other vehicles and carry extra gear for that. I also hate rattles, so storing soft goods looselyseems quieter than putting tools or camp supplies there (for example). I currently have all of my extra recovery gear in a couple of duffle bags in the bed, which is fine, but if I had a permanent storage solution under the bed, that would work great for my purposes.

a secondary fuel tank for long trips or those water tanks make sense for overlanders, but I don’t find myself needing either of those.

Given how big the market for jeep storage is, especially with the overland community, I thought maybe somebody had found a way to store gear in that space.

Yep, a tire. Sure wouldn't want to have to dig under there for my recovery gear when stuck in the mud.

I'm surprised someone isn't selling a round metal or plastic tote with a hole in the center. Just drop the hanger through and winch it up like a spare tire.
