I'm another flip flop guy, i usually work on my vehicles in them too. The only thing that's stopped me from wearing them offroading out here is the cacti

The kiawe thorns in Hawaii would go straight through them. Had to be super careful where you walked in spots.

On the shoe subject, there’s a lot of dirt and sand here in SoCal Offroad and I hate getting it in my sandals so I usually wear boots and long pants when wheeling just to keep the dirt off. Other than that it’s shorts, tshirt, and sandals everywhere except for work and Sundays on stage.
It’s good to be comfortable.

When I was out there at EJS this year I decided Car Wash was enough tub for me. Fun to watch the others but needing to drive back to VA made caution the rule.

Seeing the “bros” send it wearing flip flops makes me not feel so bad for them.

I usually wheel in flip flops except in winter but I always carry my snake boots with me. If I’m putting them on trail side, it means ? has gone south.

Last weekend rotating my tires and doing some lite sheet metal fabrication. Made sure I wore coveralls for protection.

I always wear my certified welding sandals when Im fabing in the garage.

I know that no one likes to come on a forum to hear some engineer ramble on about esoteric technical concepts regarding some specific incident to a specific vehicle they haven’t even inspected, but I can’t help but think that this whole situation could easily have been avoided if his Gladiator was red.
