Any reason I can't use one of the 40 amp connections (aux switch 1) already wired in the passenger side? The keystone key 200.4, this is from the manual.

"The KEY amplifier is capable of using the wiring
directly from your head unit, but for best results it is
Recommended you use power and ground wiring
from the vehicle's battery and chassis. "

Well there is the potential for the inevitable annoying “Aux switches unavailable while battery is charging” message which will lock you out of using it until the system thinks it’s safe.

If you have the factory installed AUX Switches, there are two hot wires available under the glove box, one keyed and one always on. Depending on the draw of the amp, it may be better to run a set of wires out to the battery.

I'm assuming since the sub has a 20 amp breaker it can't be more than that. I think the hot wires are only 10 amp. The stock radio is 15. I did find a thread where someone powered their sub through the aux wiring.

I don't remember the circuit capacity, but it is listed in the owners manual with the wire colors for the Aux Switches. I think the 12v power port in the dash is fused at 10 amps.

You make a good point.
