My .02 - if the wobble was from out of nowhere and it did not go away till you were barely moving, it is a not a weight issue, it is something is lose. A vibration from a weight is repeatable and at certain speeds.

If it is stock, I would check the front sway bar end links and make sure they are tight, and I would check the tie rod end joints and make sure they are not compromised.... -- then, I would rotate and rebalance the tires. Just normal wear and tear on big knobby tires throws the balance off.

That is true - I missed that part. You can drive out of that sort of vibration by reducing speed down to the point where it first started. You don't have to go below. If it starts at 60, then drop below 60 and it would stop.

My out of round wheel I could actually drive "out of" the speeds at which it literally shook the dash so hard the radio shook - over 75 and it smoothed out quite a bit - below the speed at which it started was fine, as well.
Oddly enough it baffled an alignment shop, a tire store, an axle and driveline business - and admittedly, me.

... if your truck is stock then the geometry should not be the issue ... sounds like something is loose.

ok, gotta say it, 90MPH and you're worried about a wobble? Hell, you're lucky the entire thing didn't fall apart. Jeeps are governed at 96MPH so you're pushing it's limit every day.
No modern vehicle should do that at 90. Thats insane. 90 is the new 55.

The speed limit on my stretch of highway is 80 and you will get past up by just about every other make/model of car, truck, and semi known to man. This is not the 1980's.. we can go faster than 55 now.

And if your Gladiator feels unstable at 85, something is wrong.
In all fairness, I don't think anyone mentioned slowing down to 55.

You don't drive in California, fine. You don't like people driving Jeeps fast, fine. Don't make shit up just to make your point.

Gladiator's will drive 98 MPH indicated and probably faster than that.

Mine is limited to 110 - likely for tires, doesn't matter, I won't take it THAT fast.
I've pushed 90, maybe more - dunno, was too busy making sure I wasn't making trouble on the interstate LOL

It's obviously capable of doing over 100 or they'd not need to govern the thing. Just a thought.....
Around here you are more likely to have a critter - or a 2-legged critter cause problems for you going at those speeds. But it won't be lack of capability of the truck.

It's the tires. Even the Ram TRX is limited at 118 mph, and it has 702 hp. 702 hp and mud tires. The gladiator trims with highway treads get a higher governor than those with knobby tires.

I don't see 55 mph mentioned...
You're right. :asshat:  Nor was 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69 or 70 or any of the 80's or 90's. Neither were 1-54.

So, you're agreeing with me now, and with my original post - saying that there are speeds between 85 and 55 which may be acceptable speeds. Not saying the Gladiator is supposed to be incapable of 85+, just not smart in my view.

If you agree with this, we're good. If you disagree with this, feel free to send me a PM stating why, if you'd like - I won't derail the thread any further, as I'm curious to hear back if the original issue is related to the wheel weight/balancing.

Oh wait, I almost forgot to assert my internet intellectual dominance: :asshat:  :headbang:

Drive as we will, it's my opinion anything over 70 in a Jeep Gladiator is too fast.
I look fondly back at my years in uniform and when I found someone laughingly scoffing at the speed limit, or driving without due regard for the safety of others..... I made pedestrians out of them. The look on their faces while they watched their rides being drug up onto that flat bed for the $500.00 and 30 day ride to the impound yard convinced me I had made the right impression. I never left them standing in the rain though, I public serviced them to a nice dry area in the rear seat of my Crown Victoria.
