Passenger failed around 18k. Fixed it. Meant to fix the driver side preemptively but forgot, and it broke at 20k. Now I can't find the dang second clip...

The two screw plastic clips from Amazon turned out to be too thick on my truck to not rub & potentially damage the upholstery on the visors.

So got all crafty, & used them as a pattern to fabricate a set from some 18ga. steel that I had on hand.

Plenty of clearance now, & bulletproof as well. 👍

It looks like the kits with single screw versions come with four plates. I can only see a use for two, what are the other two for?

I'm constantly amazed by the amount of awesome information available on this forum!
I didn't know this was a "thing". My driverside broke couple months ago, fixed under warranty. I was thinking the design is pretty weak, and I guess I was right.
Still seems ridiculous, for what these things cost, silly design flaws (ie. defroster issue) and this . Crazy it happens enough to support a whole replacement part industry.
Anyway, thanks for the heads-up !
