Walmart online is just a marketplace, same as Amazon. It's not Walmart selling them, but another retailer on Walmart's platform. That said, I have received counterfeit stuff from Walmart online, but I was able to return them at a physical store for a full refund, even though Walmart didn't sell it.

Dana is either off loading product to anyone who will buy or it's counterfeit.? There are retailers selling way below MAP everywhere........That price is way below wholesale cost from a legit distributor. I've been busting my supplier's balls about it for over a year now and no change.

That is either a outright scam that will take your money or is part of a Triangulation Fraud scam.

It's ship & sold by Walmart. It's probably legit, nothing to lose as return is easy.

I ordered from @Northridge4x4
I'm all about supporting those who support us. We lost almost all our local shops during COVID and the ones that remain are booked till infinity. I will be doing the install myself and have a short timeline and Northridge always comes through. That Walmart price though...

Every time I've bought something from walmart.com I've been screwed. It's been either not as advertised or never shows up. I ignore links to walmart.com, it is a waste of time to even look. And when I need to be sure I get an authentic component/tool/part/whatever and not some ripoff fake garbage from China, I buy from legit stores, not from Amazon (or walmart.com or alibaba or temu or any of the others). Sometimes if a store has an Amazon storefront I may risk it but typically I go straight to the manufacturer's site or a trusted retailer.

Walmart is trying to be another Amazon…. and frankly, I think they suck at it.

Be careful with Walmart. I don’t think they’re as strict (or whatever you want to call it) when it comes to who the vendors/distributors are.

Let me tell you a story….🤣. I’m into home canning and in a lot of canning groups. All American Pressure canners are $300+ (the Cadillac of canners). There was a $12 All American canner on Walmarts website. Someone in one of the groups actually ordered it - just to see what would happen. Well of course… that caused a shitload of other people to order one. 🤣 including me!!!! I used a $30 gift card so there wouldn’t be any issues with scammers & my credit card. Everyone was constantly watching…. the website listed as ‘shippped’ with tracking information. Everyone was watching their shipments as the canner came across the ocean from China (All American canners are made in Wisconsin).🤔

The first person who ordered it….posted a picture of a gas mask they received (not sure how legit that was…but it was funny as hell). A couple other people got stupid stuff.😁 Walmart finally caught on to what was happening…. That item disappeared from their website. As far as I know…everyone got a ‘refund’ and/or ‘cancellation’ of the $12 - including myself.

So yea…..I’ll never use Walmart unless I can’t get it anywhere else. I had issues in the past with trying to return things also - royal pain in the ass.

Amazon is just sooooo much better at that game!

Maybe @Northridge4x4 can tell us why Walmart can sell these for $160 less than they can?

I would expect them and all the other normal vendors for DANA products would be locked into MAP type pricing but Walmart is exempt?

Just seems like some f*ckery going on with Walmart and these units.

If I was in the mood to try this, I'd have it shipped to a local Walmart store. Then you could inspect it before you took control of the item and return it on the spot if not up to snuff.

Unless I missed something, I could not see a ship to store option. It was either home delivery or nothing.

My story:
I purchased a pair of SKF front wheel bearing hub assemblies for my daughter's CX-5 from Walmart.com because they were really inexpensive. I figured if the price was too good to be true, then they were fakes and I could return them. Turns out they were legit parts. I had them authenticated by SKF. SKF provides an Authentication service because they want to find out about counterfeits as much as you want to know if the parts you received are counterfeits.

I do my best to not take chances on critical parts. Counterfeit auto parts have gotten so much better at looking like the real thing, especially to people who don't handle the same parts day after day and might not see or feel that something is wrong/different. Same with the packaging, it can look like the real deal these days. Hopefully the legitimate retailers are good at vetting the parts they purchase, if they aren't buying them straight from the manufacturer. I'm not insinuating that you bought a fake bearing, you may have gotten a great deal from a liquidator or someone like that, but I'd bet even SKF can get fooled for a while before they catch on to a new well-done fake.

Agreed. I was surprised at how thorough SKF was with their review and I was confident in their findings. But, as always, buyer beware.

Even with a major auto part retailer, you can't be sure of what you are getting. For example, I bought some Moog ball joints for a Dodge Ram that I had from an online retailer with the initials RA. When I had a question about the ball joints I contacted Moog directly, who advised that RA was not an authorized retailer and Moog would not warranty their parts or offer parts support. Interesting.
