Water Leak Under Dash

Checking to see if anyone has had this issue and what the fix is.

Each time I go through the car wash a puddle appears on the driver’s side all weather floor mat. The water is coming from under the dash and between the steering column and straight up from where a dead peddle would be installed. I do not have a dead peddle. I have looked but have not been able to see where the water is leaking in. Hoping to correct this before any electronics are effected and/or rust occurs.

That is where the access plug is located if you haven't checked that already. Maybe its loose or has a hole in it. You can see it easily under the hood in that area.

I looked at that point and it did not appear to be coming from there. I am go through automated car wash when this happens. Not spraying under the hood at a .50cent self serve.

Sounds more like it is coming in under the door especially if you have rocker guards to protect your paint

I do have the rocker guards. I will take a look at this.

Good question. I don’t know if it does. Next time I go through I will find out. I don’t think the car wash has the under wash. I’m in California where no salt is used on the roads so really no need to rinse the undercarriage.

My very first "new" car was an 89 YJ and subsequently got rid of the vehicle through the NJ Lemon Law. Water came down the inside of the vehicle on the passenger side from somewhere under the dash down the firewall. The dealer took the vehicle several times over the course of a few months before Chrysler reps came down and couldn't fix it. Replaced with the same vehicle, same color, same everything and that one leaked too. Drove it for 7 years until I traded it against a Grand Cherokee. Bothersome? Yes but I loved that vehicle.
