I'm not a mathematician, but the thread title IS name calling so it was <5 posts in.
I guess you're right and I'll give you a pass on this one but this "community" is starting to eat itself alive with nothing but trash talking and shit posting.

If a company started making an ā€œold truckā€ for real they would outsale everything on the market.

A keyed Ignition
No key fob
No complex computer and enter info system
No TPMS
Less pollution crap
Old School workhorse engine and tranny
Basically described the 3rd Gen Ford Ranger that died out in 2011. Peak year was 348K sales and last year sales in 2011 was 19K. Fleet sales was the only reason it was not killed 2-3 years earlier. The consumer market moved on from basic.

What is considered minimum basic today is way different than it was 15-20 years ago.

My JT does not feel as "Jeepy" as the CJs from my past, nor do they seem as rugged. But it is definitely a Jeep. I'm often surprised by it's performance (but worry more often about it's reliability). I have and do love my Jeeps! If I live long enough I'll buy/ build another.
Neighbors kids walking by today told me that my Gladiator is "the coolest car in the neighborhood." :)

When we are talking about antique engines ...

I just read that GM is working on an updated version of the LS (which we will never see in Europe :crying:).
Would be great if Stellantis put the 6,XX litres version in the Gladiator. Best of two worlds.

Maybe I’m in a minority but I don’t care to have a v8 upfront. The 8 speed is great, if you can pair it with an engine that has atleast ~325hp and good torque down low I think this would be nearly perfect. The diesel option seemed like a really good choice if they could just keep it reliable. Honestly something like ford’s 2.7 would be perfect for an application like this. I don’t mind force induction, if it’s done right.

Odd to mention the ecoboom and done right in the same post. If you don't mind shattered intake valves and blown up engines the Ford motor would be perfect...
Not to mention the Broncos with the 2.7L are somehow still slower than the JLs with the pentastar or 2.0t. Numbers on paper and unreliable engines, I'll pass.

I’ve owned and known a few others who have owned a 2.7 f150. The engine was great. Fuel economy was great as well as power. No issues to report for anyone I know that’s had one. The 3.6 has the known lifter issues but due to the shear volume in which they’re produced, I think it’s slightly blown out of proportion. Similar to the 2.7, ford tried/is trying to make that their most used engine, so of course the number of failures will increase as well. It’s been an option since 16 or 17 if I recall and overall is a great option, probably their best option.
