What’s work?
The title says it all. I know nobody likes these posts but hell with it, I’m not one to care much. Truck is gone in four days, registration has been dropped already, I’m back where I’ve been forever with just a pile of ZJs, the reasons… well they have nothing to do with the truck. Posting this to say this is pretty damn solid forum with a lot enthusiasm for the JTs, it’s great to see peeps taking advantage of the JT, most didn’t realize the MJ until it was gone and another Jeep P/U has been a long time coming. I personally do not believe the JT has much longer before it’s a statistic itself, the numbers at this point tell the story. Hopefully not and it hangs around for awhile, it definitely is unique in a sea of boring generic midsize trucks. Anyway thank you and best wishes for everyone here and the future of the JTs, have gleaned lot of information and ideas from this forum and will pass it on with other I encounter. Zeejay out.

Enjoy.

I’m probably going to be out in a few weeks too… mostly financial reasons… and needing a truck that can tow which I can’t do in the JTRD atm without a handicap.

Long answer: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/talk-me-off-the-ledge….84370/

TLDR; literally anything in the mountain rich desert on 37’s and stock gears.

Slightly more TLDR; I’ve handicapped the JT more than I probably should have and can’t really pull anything at highway speeds. I could dump another couple thousand(like 5k probably) for an aux cooler, possibly a tune and appropriate gears… but I’m not 100% convinced it will fix the ability to tow while maintaining the unmatched wheeling ability. JT is a Swiss Army knife, but between financial considerations, a growing family, an older Power Wagon is in my future it seems.

If looking for an older PW. The 2009 is it. But parts are harder to find for the 3 generation.

I traded an '08 in for my JT. 4gens are getting harder to find. Plenty of 4.5 and 5 gens around.

I think the 4.5, specifically is the sweet spot at the moment. Good low mileage examples can be had for low 40’s and the 2018 was the only 4th gen offered with Apple car play which is for some reason important to me.
