If you do get it repaired, also ask for loss of value compensation. Your truck will be worth less just because it has an accident history. It should be worth $1,000-2,000 in your pocket after all repairs are completed.

Well, make the best you can out of it. Wait until sema to see what aftermarket rear bumpers come out and upgrade. If wanting flairs, same. Get really wild and custom bed! Good luck and sorry that happened.

Be sure to request diminished value compensation. It's a relatively standard payment but generally doesn't get offered if it's not requested.

I hear you, I would almost tell the other guy, he just bought a “new/damaged” JT, and make them rep,ace it with a new JT!
Yeah if only it worked like that.

As I'm going through a similar issue I would very much suggest you get your insurance involved asap. They will handle all issues with the other party and their insurance. Make your intentions known you want diminished value so they know up front. If you want a link to a place that can get that for you let me know and I'll send you some info. It will take some time for the insurance to work itself out, but hopefully it will all work it self out in your favor.

I feel ya completely buddy. I had my first JT for 3 months and i got rear ended. I got my insurance involved first and they had an adjuster come to me. Insurance will not repair frame damage. They will replace the frame if its cost efficient. I also needed a whole new bed and cab corner and a bunch of other damage. They deemed it a total loss because they can not get parts for the trucks in a timely manor. So they paid it off and i ordered a new one. Hopefully all works out for you.

i got this extra on my Erie policy. Haven't needed to use it, but if that frame damage does total the vehicle (no idea about the likelihood of that) I would like to have something like this.

I realize if you don't actually have this its hindsight, but to others on here, might be worth looking into.

Edit: no i don't work for Erie. This cost $53 per year for Dory and $63 for Gladys.

KEEP THAT NEW CAR FEELING

Erie Insurance offers an auto endorsement that makes sure you have adequate coverage should something happen to your new ride. If your new car1 gets totaled, it will be replaced with the newest model year if you’ve had it for less than two years. (Another reason to feel good: If you’ve had your car longer than two years, you’ll get a model that’s two years newer.)

You can add New Auto Security2 to your ERIE auto policy for an additional cost. And here are the reasons why you’ll want to add it:

  • If you’ve had your car less than two years and it gets totaled, ERIE will reimburse you the cost to replace it with the newest comparable model year (minus your deductible).
  • If you’ve had your car longer than two years and it gets totaled, ERIE will pay the cost to replace it with a comparable model that’s two years newer (minus your deductible).
  • If you lease your car, coverage is provided for the difference between the actual cash value of the auto and the amount due under the terms of your lease or loan.3

ADD THE ENDORSEMENT ANY TIME
You can add New Auto Security to your policy at any time prior to a loss. It’s not restricted to when you buy the car or first insure the car with ERIE.

If you already have ERIE auto insurance, you may add New Auto Security to your existing auto policy for just a few extra dollars a month. If you are new to ERIE, ask your local ERIE agent for an auto quote that includes New Auto Security.

Yes, I got a similar policy/protection from my dealer, which gives same new vehicle replacement coverage, or payoff without loss.
Cheers

The Vehicle insurance should go with the vehicle by law , for them to get out of it would have to press charges as stolen. Family member not going happen Cooperate or it will slow things down

Are you saying for me to cooperate?, I am willing to do cheetah flips if they accept liability I was the one rear ended, but as others have pointed out I will just have to use my insurance to get the ball rolling and have insurances fight it out.
