These were also on the Max Tow version of the 2020 Gladiator. Since 21 they have sold the bumpers without the plastic fender flare. It was a the whole insert behind the fog lights.
Most owners trimmed them off.
They are still used on the base sport models, not sport S and up

My 2022 sport s came with them. I'm seeing some 2022 sport s with the base sport bumper and some 2022 sport s with the correct sport s bumper. I'm guessing the factory ran out of sport s bumpers or something.

So then it’s an actual Mopar part? I may know somebody on the forum who could provide a part number.
They are specific to the bumper. You need to order the ones that match the bumper or they won't line up correctly. Your dealership may be able to help.

I took mine off my stock sport S plastic bumper, but they don't align to the metal bumper. They are designed to go partway in the plastic bumper and the metal is flush mount.

I tried the Australian version for their metal bumper, but they don't align even close to correctly with my knockoff bumper.

What bumper are you trying to attach to?

Have a picture? I think I might be one of the unlucky few with the base sport bumper.

I REALLY wish I had such a thing.
I have found that my front wheels toss stuff out that opening and then it floats back to the windshield. Yes, the spray and crap on my windshield isn't from the person in front of me because no one is in front of me, it's from ME.
Not cool when you can't see through the windshield on a highway because of your own front tire spray........

And Monday I got home and got out of the truck and something caught my eye - sitting on the cowl just below the windshield was a white rock - from my own tires. It made it between bumper and fender and came back over the hood.

They are to help with aerodynamics and they don't put them on anymore. As of early last year. Not on US models anyway.
10 points from Slytherin for using the word "aerodynamics" in a Jeep forum.

1. awesome color
2. oof yeah, i got the sport base bumper too then. didn't realize we were "supposed" to get a different version.
3. very clean looking. i guess i'm going to have to join you in the modification. any thoughts on the air dam below the bumper on/off?

Thanks! There are a few ways to do it. Research here and on the JL forums. If you're good with a razor knife, you can score the pieces and then cut them out pretty easily. I think the sport bumper looks funky without the air dam so it stays.

Yes. Over the years I have seen Jeep Wranglers sent to Europe with a version of these, I think it is mainly because of the laws requiring enclosed wheel wells. Mopar site calls them Close out covers... I would like to see if all models sent to Europe have these and not the ones that are put on Rubicons, Overlands, etc

I have thinking of a design where the two removable wings on a bumper could have close out panels. Useful on the highway and removable for off road.
