As a longtime overlanding Tacoma guy I was given the "opportunity" to change camps to a Jeep when my Tacoma had a full-on engine /transmission simultaneous rapid unscheduled disassembly on the highway last month. I didn't let that get me down even though I have put 12 years of sweat and tears (swearing) into making the Taco an amazingly capable offroad machine. My 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X, while capable right out of the box, needs some upgrades to be what I want it to be. I only had it a week when I deployed to Africa, so I haven't had the opportunity to add anything yet, BUT, here is my mods list that will be started when I return in mid-December. My wife hates being my "mail room." Let the adventure begin.

Still have some more mods planned, Install Steersmarts drag link, Yukon rear axles, and later replace the OEM links with some after markets one for more flex, better ride.

So I am a entire week behind posting this .. so my original steering shock was slap wore out . It darn near would travel by itself after I removed it and held it up so I installed a new double steering shock set up by Rough country.. I definitely have to say it was a 100% over the original but I am also sure if I would get the Falcon it would be better I am not completely satisfied with the small brackets on each end of the drag link . They took some doing to get level and straight and I already had to adjust one. I bought a new rock jock drag link bar . So I am going to take it off and replace it and try to get some different brackets for the tie rod ends of the bar. Not quite sure which ones yet .

The culprit from the air box critter clean out a couple weeks ago is no confirmed to be a small chipmunk. I saw the punk climb up the tire and go under the fender liner. I quickly scared it out of there, and it had already gathered more crap in the box. Cleaned it out again, and threw this peppermint pack under the filter. I used peppermint spray on the tires and a few spots under the hood that wouldn’t hurt anything. Now I need to order one of those stupid noise makers. Dammit chipmunk!

I have never had a major problem with any of my Jeeps with varmints. My wifes 13 Wrangler they loved the engine cover. While I was deployed to Desert Storm, (yes I'm old) mice chewed up all the paperwork in the glove compartment and made a impressive nest.

Switch out the steering wheel with a fresh OEM one. Feels like new! Kinda sad this old wheel wore so bad in 70k miles.

What's the cost of the replacement, and part number? I'll eventually do the same.
