What's the cost of the replacement, and part number? I'll eventually do the same.

not sure of the cost at the dealership, I bought mine off eBay, see link below. Replacement cost was $250 and a half hour of labor for me. This company selling OEM takeoffs builds new Jeeps and is reputable. Their eBay has lots of decent parts that are brand new.

you need to add screen over the inlets …

I added a vermin screen to the upper air intake. made from gutter screen from the HD - easily formed to fit around the intake. It is just friction fit for now. seems pretty solid but will keep an eye on it to determine if a more permanent attachment method is required. Still need to do the same to the grill intake.

Completed the screens for the air intake - grill removes easily with 6 push pins, tilted the grill toward the front then disconnect the camera spray, then the camera connector at the lower right. Pull forward to disengage the 6 clips at the bottom And set the grill aside. Use a T-27 to loosen the cross brace to access the intake port.
I was going to place the screen over the intake port attached with the T-20 bolts at top and bottom, but then realized that only those 2 T-20’s and 2 Christmas tree plugs were holding the rubber radiator surround in place. So I pulled that off and sandwiched the screen between the port and the surround for a cleaner look. There is just enough of a lip on the port for the screen to fit without falling in.

The culprit from the air box critter clean out a couple weeks ago is no confirmed to be a small chipmunk. I saw the punk climb up the tire and go under the fender liner. I quickly scared it out of there, and it had already gathered more crap in the box. Cleaned it out again, and threw this peppermint pack under the filter. I used peppermint spray on the tires and a few spots under the hood that wouldn’t hurt anything. Now I need to order one of those stupid noise makers. Dammit chipmunk!

I thought about a screen actually. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m thinking heat resistant jb weld or similar to attach it. I need to go buy some screen material.

Switch out the steering wheel with a fresh OEM one. Feels like new! Kinda sad this old wheel wore so bad in 70k miles.

Just wondering, did you use a lot of alcohol based hand sanitizer during the "scare". There was a way noticeable uptick of peoples interior soft touch spots degrading prematurely from it during that time frame.

Not that I recall. I don’t even keep any in the truck. But now that you mention it, we were walking around all day putting it on so that is plausible!

I used black HD gutter guard screen. It cut easily, and molded to the inlets without needing any adhesive.
For about $4 you can get gutter screen in black from HD.

Just use a bucket, fill it halfway with water and then pour enough black sunflower seeds to cover the surface. Then put a ramp up to the top from the floor. Chipmunks, mice will jump right in and drown and the seeds will last for many days. Stupid buggers will jump right in even when they can clearly see their buddies floating! It’s like they lose control of their brain when they climb to the top and then see all the sunflower seeds.

I’ve lost track of how many mice and chipmunks I’ve taken out with this setup. If you think you have only one chipmunk I’m going to tell you there’s most likely many more. I’ve taken out 7-10 and I just saw some more the other day. Ugh.

Greatest idea ever. I can’t wait to do it. I’m going to do it tomorrow and put it right next to the jeep tire. I apologize to all in regards to a few rodents dying. I’m not willing to kill my jeep by letting them run rampant. Otherwise I’d have no reason to do this.

I should state the obvious drowning hazard warning here though: don’t leave a half filled bucket of water laying around if you have unattended little ones that might fall into the bucket.

Replaced my stock rear springs with 3” spacers for some Fundamental Motorsport springs. Previous to this I was dead level at 4.5” front and 3” rear, but as I add more weight I’m starting to see a sag. The new springs got me to about 4 1/4” rear, should settle some. I still have a Westin steel bumper to install and that will bring it down a tad more.
