I should have taken a pic of the bug massacre on my windshield from our 200 mi round trip to the beach, through dairy and horse county.
It's so bad over by the Mississippi were we used to have our race weekends that the hotels shut off the lights and have to block some of the entrances. The ground is about an inch thick with them - messy to walk through.

Through Kansas, it was really tiny bugs that get so bad. The windshield is almost gritty feeling with their bodies.

Try driving a class A motorhome though a 17 yr cicada swam at 70 mph. Had to use scotch brite to clean the windshield.

Yeah, been in Florida when love bugs was sooo bad you would have to pull over and get the ice scrapper just for starters , turn the windshield black.
this was a 100 mile round trip lunch run from rockledge fl to yeehaw junction fl and back during the epic love bug invasion of spring 2018!

I once ran into some thick gnat clouds or something in northern Oregon. I had to pull over a couple times to clean headlights and windshield. They were so thick my headlights (LED) would become ineffective after about a mile of bugs stuck to them.

Finally got around to installing the fender flares and Weathertech mudflaps. Not pretty but will help keep the doors cleaner while driving down our county dirt road to get to the blacktop.

Are these the Mopar flares for the JL? Damn County Roads! Looks like you can use some help with the mud.

They are Mopar replicas. Fit was perfect.

Our driveway is a little over a 1/4 mile long, then the county road is 1.5 miles to the blacktop. Our driveway is all gravel so it doesn't get muddy but the county road does. I hated going anywhere when it rains. Hopefully, now the door handles and doors will stay cleaner.

Is that what these were? (Kansas, after about an hour)
I carried a windshield cleaning sponge and a spray can of foam windshield cleaner that I'd let soak for a minute, then scrub things off. I went through almost that whole can of windshield bug spray on that trip.

Speaking of bugs....the wife and I were just talking the other day about how "lovebugs" are pretty much non-existent now in our part of the world. They used to be in abundance every spring. Now we never see them anymore.

Made a HD harness extension for the battery tender. 12awg primary wire in between the 16awg, the heat shrinked the whole thing. I’m running it from the batteries to the driver cowl area. It’s still fused with a 7.5 as it’s only a 3 amp maintaining charger. I’ll still open the hood to hook it up, as I don’t want it hanging somewhere, but no more alligator clips that like to get bumped.

Cleaned out the air filter and added a badge that just showed up on the porch. Two more spots left on passenger front. The tentative plan after that is the area behind the rear doors. Pictures of filter are before and after. It was dirty-ish, but spotless on the inside. Love this filter. No oil, good for 100k, and just blow out with a compressor occasionally.

Not a great sign unfortunately. I was in FL for 19 years up until ‘19. I saw them, and other insects, decrease exponentially in that time period.
