2 reasons I have even considered a 4 post lift:
Storage of a vehicle up high (15' ceilings but do have to watch for the infrared heater tube down the middle)
and -
the moron who did the concrete work refused to follow my directions and specs, insisting he'd done more concrete than i had - I told him I needed 3500 pound spec and 4" depth.
So what's he do? Used 2x4s which are 3.5" at best, and the sand he's put in the middle isn't true and flat meaning some parts of the floor are likely only 3" at best, some perhaps less. A 2 post requires strong concrete, and being bolted in place. You can't skimp on the floor.
A guy said he could cut out sections and repour the floor where a lift would go - but geesh, then it's more cost, messy, and it's there forever.
For my use, a 4 post would probably be ok, but a 2 post is fantastic for brake and suspension work for sure.
I drop engines and transmissions out the bottom of the older cars, and having the bottom of a vehicle wide open is pretty important. Pros and cons.

But now, my shop is such a disaster, there's no room for any lift, not even portable.
A four post lift with a bridge is just as good for brake and suspension work. Just an extra cost.

Installed the American Adventure Labs Rear Molle Overhead Panel + Starlink Mini + Starlink Mini AALabs mount.

Starlink Mini operates great. Kiddo enjoys it. Great use for work + hunting + watching some of y'all's youtube videos on the go when I need to fix my certified shit box.

Cons; No instructions + Had to remove my headliner from my hardtop :(

Cheers. 🍻

Did you have to remove the headliner because of the Starlink or the molle panel? Or both?
I like the looks of the molle panel shape.

in other news, harbor freight has the 12,000 lb winch with either the steel or synthetic cable $480 starting 4/7. another item on sale a week later are the daytona 1,300 lb tire carriers for $90. a HUGE back saver when changing 40s.

Maybe both, someday. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a lift. Now that I have a garage that the Jeep fits in, I think I might do it. I’m leaning towards a 4 post to avoid bolting it down. The four post manufacturers don’t even recommend bolting unless you’re in an earthquake area. I won’t use it to store vehicles above, as my garage only has 10’ ceilings. But I’ll be able to be in a seated position to do more major work on the jeep like t-case and tranny pulls more easily. I plan to keep this thing forever, so it’s going to need major maintenance to keep it running great.
Not to discourage you, but put some thought and research into this.
Transmission jacks usually come in 2 sizes. One for doing the job on the floor and the other is for doing the job about 6 ft in the air.
I've used both, and there are pros and cons to each.
I've never seen one that would work at 3 to 4 ft. Not saying they aren't out there.

There is a nice used 2 post on Facebook for $2500 right now. Seems like there are deals on used ones some what regularly. Just a thought on another option to save money.

The jack for transmissions while vehicle is on a lift has a larger footprint and more stability. It won't go down as far, either - you still need to get the transmission off the jack onto a bench.
We had both in the shop - but the first shop I worked in - when many automatics were cast iron cases, we lowered the transmission onto our chest and rolled out from under the car......

My "floor transmission jack" doesn't go REALLY high, but plenty high to have the vehicle well off the floor up on jack stands at nearly their top limits. I pulled the T5 and transfer case on Eagles as a unit with it. The drawback - you need to lift things up from the jack onto a bench. With that sort of weight WAAAY off balance you must be really sure too use the arm stops and safety chain! Otherwise - it will go OOPSIE onto the floor.

Why would suspension, brake, engine, etc. work not work with a 4 post and two 4 point trolley jacks to take the wheels off the platforms?

Concrete is my other reason for liking 4 post. No way to be confident in strength without pouring footings. Core samples can test sections, but if the pour wasn’t consistent, you’re just hoping with your life at stake.

I like the looks of the molle panel shape.
It was due to it rubbing a bit on the left side of the starlink mini. Right now without the headliner, it fits great and there's plenty of room. Definitely gonna modify that headliner today to make it fit. Will post pics.

Def enjoy the molle panel.

The air filter wasn't as bad as I was expecting, with the last blast though Moab.

A heads up for anyone planning on getting a 2 post lift. Before you buy. Look at the concrete requirements for installation. Have a friend going through this headache now. His concrete guy did everything right. The thickness, the psi of the concrete rebar, etc.. The problem is where the seams of the concrete are. When they started to install the posts. Found out that they are too close to the edges of the slabs. So now he has to cut the slabs, and dig down deeper, about 4ft. The posts will have their own foundation now.

Have 2 friends with 4 posts and they like them. You can do about 95% of the stuff as a twin post with them.

Installed a Amazon special Trail Rail System today. Kept my expectations pretty low before receiving it but was pleasantly surprised as it seemed of decent quality with decent hardware. Chased the threads in the bed because of the bedliner material but everything installed easily with decent fit and finish.
