Since my dash idea was too shakey(not giving up on it, just putting it to use until me and @WILDHOBO brainstorm a final solution) I went ahead and installed my @WOLFBOX Mirror in the standard position. Ill wire tomorrow and start planning my back window/roll bar mount for the digital rear view. Painting my trailer this weekend so might put the trailer cam on it this weekend if not itll be next.

Also rode around with the Freedom panels out today. 76° and sunnnny.

Loaded up the truck to head to Atlanta (EchoPark) Motor Speedway tomorrow.

Leaving sometime between 3 and 6AM. Whenever I decide to peel myself out of bed 😂

Does anyone know if the Willys wheels have same specs as the Mojave wheels? I want some cheap black wheels.

IIRC, Mojave wheels have a wider offset to help clear the shock reservoir.

Retired. Finally !!
Well, my new Binary Star curved side steps came in yesterday. I really, really, really wanted power running boards, but I also really, really, really like having money in my account. I'm putting them on for my wife and mother-in-law because I'm not really a fan of side steps/running boards.

I was hesitant in buying these steps because they are incredibly cheap in price, but all the reviews and YouTube videos give them a thumbs up. I ordered them on Amazon and got next day delivery, shipping said I would get them Feb 24th....

When I went to pick up the box from my front porch, I swear I felt a testicle drop into my left sock. These rails/side steps are HEAVY. I mean I put it onto it's side and PUSHED the box into the house, that heavy !!

Install pics will follow, I'm going to save my OEM sliders in case I hate these steps...I like the clean look of no running boards or steps and how the OEM sliders cover the ugly pinch seam.

Finally have the time to show the two days I spent getting ready for and then installing an S&G Cold Air Intake [COI].

Day 1.
I'm @32xxx miles and wanted to clean the engine prior to installing the COI. I used simple green heavy duty cleaner. So the full bottle says you should dilute the stuff prior to use---I sure don't want to put this stuff in my wash bucket and didn't realize I should have bought a separate container or spray bottle.

So after covering the alternator, battery, and intake with plastic bags from the grocery store I sprayed everything with a heavy coat of water and then used the simple green right from the bottle---the cool thing is that the bottle can either spray a stream of cleaner or make the cleaner come out as a foam as its sprayed. Obviously used the foam.

Then used a brush to get the cleaner into all the various crooks and crannys. Regret no pictures but the cleaner makes obvious it needs only a minute and not to let it dry so as soon as I was done with the brush I grabbed the hosed and washed it all down. Then used a towel [really one of my wife's cloth napkins---don't tell  ] to dry everything before taking the bags off.

Cleaned up engine compartment.

Sun was going down so intake had to wait until the next day.

Day 2
I hate this.

I'm to old to try to read instructions off a tiny phone screen. Luckily I own an I-Pad and was able to use that---but it still sucked.

IMO customers should get a paper copy---especially on an installation like this---which ISN'T going to change. They do offer you the chance to print the pages---27 different steps with a photo for each step. I don't have a color printer, I don't want to screw around with copy and pasting every step without the photos, and I don't want to send the damn instructions to a photo shop in a ups store or walmart and then have to drive to get them.

That said, other than step 1 the instructions were really well done with clear photos and arrows pointing to the screws and sensors to remove.

Believe it or not, step 1 very clearly said to remove the negative battery cable for a minimum of 2 hours.

Every single subsequent instruction photo clearly shows the battery hooked up while they remove the old intake and install the new intake?!? Then the final step never mentions the need to hook the battery back up. I never cease to be amazed at the lack of quality control on something as simple as instructions.

Post install.

Had one issue with the install. Not sure if you can tell by the photos but the actual filter box is slightly curved. After removing the backing the plexiglass clear cover is screwed on top---the screws are the cheapest parts that could be bought.

As a trained mechanic I'm very careful of installs anything requiring tightening and never do only the screws or bolts on one side before going to the other---and the torque wrench is my best friend.

So I halfway installed all four screws in a diagonal and across manner. Then when any real pressure was applied the screws started stripping [yes I had the correct #2 phillips head screwdriver]. Each one just produced shedded shavings so I had to be very careful and slow in applying a lot of force straight down to get the screws in---and it was absolutely impossible with the last screw. The head just stripped away.

The scuff marks you see on top of each screw are the only sign of them stripping but stripped they are.

Bottomline is it's 99% finished and I love the sound when the RPMs go over 2500. I perceive it being a bit more responsive even though I sincerely doubt it is. Love the look of it when the hood is up.

I HATE it when they give you cheap screws !! I've developed the habit of treating those screws almost like a tap and die set when screwing into plastic. Turn the screw, back it off, turn the screw some more, back it off, keep going, basically slowly cutting threads into the plastic. Stupid and frustrating and takes forever. I try to use the same screw on all holes so only one screw head has the shiny bits from the screwdriver popping off the screw.

That's brilliant----but not applicable in this case. They have metal inserts in the case for the screws so none of it makes any sense. I wrote to customer service and asked for a new set.

I have a Mopar CAI and feel the difference , love the sound , and swear at top end it just keeps going , but everyone says it is not so! Ha!
I think I would take a screw to ACE hardware and get screws the same thread perhaps stainless steel , as the screws they are going to send you are the same and will do the same thing over time.

I replaced my hood decals with some that are more "Jeepish" for lack of a better word. The original stencil military-type font was okay, but the more "Jeepish" font really stands out. This time I made it all one word, Mudpie, instead of two proper. I thought the gap would look odd.
