A tractor, small John Deer; neighbor was moving debris from Ida, and got stuck in the Louisiana gumbo we have on the north shore of the ponchartrain. The owner has decided he needs a winch on his wrangler. He was impressed that the Gladi and wench could get his tractor out of the hole.

Had to remove tree which grew over 30 years between two out buildings at our home.
First we topped from 12 ft & then removed the bottom 12 ft.
Didn't want to risk damaging either building as they were 3-4 ft apart & the tree was not leaning to our advantage.
Wife backed out fast to best control the fall.
Wife pulled our Gravely out of our slippery slope bank of our pond, before going into the water. We were too busy to snap a pix of this rescue.

If you own property w/ a lot of trees a winch will come in handy & save you some money by DIY.

I'm constantly finding life get easier w/ a working wench. Been married for 50 years.

Rescued a sidewalk from a fallen tree. Got to test some of the gear, work a few angles. It was fun.
Used a 6'x⅜" HF bike cable rigged as a sling on the trunk while the tree saver was *ahem* tied up.

Straight on.

My wife would be pissed if I had a wench help get anyone or anything out of the mud........

Last summer I used mine to pull a big 4 cyl generator off a trailer onto a concrete pad for a neighbor, and last month I pulled a guy out of the snowy ditch after he slid off the road due to the ice storm that hit us the night before.

Not literally today, but a couple of weeks ago I was able to help a nice family that was stuck near the Columbia Icefields between Jasper and Banff.
I put my front wheels on rolled up sections of chain so I had some grip on the icy road, and used a snatch block.

I remember Alex on one of the old "Ice Road Truckers" shows - he was helping someone who was off in the snow about like the pics here. He handed the car's driver the chain and said "here, hook this to a part you don't care about" and walked back to his truck laughing..........

In this case with @FshnRdnJpnAB - the vehicle was retrieved, the people happy, no one hurt, life went on, all was good. Sometimes things are just buried or otherwise not fully accessible.

I had no choice but to put a strap around a lower control arm on a car - don't like doing that but there wasn't anything else I could get to with the car down in the snow in the ditch and it was a low sitting car.

I spent a lot of years as a towing and recovery operator, and you definitely do your best with what you have at your disposal. It used to really irritate me how many vehicles come without any attachment points for recovery. I still carry a nylon bridle with mini ‘J’ hooks that fit into reinforced slots in the frame of most vehicles.

Looks like I bragged too soon on the bike cable.
It was diggin' in pretty good when it failed. The hook jumped back about 6'.

Figured it was a good a time as any to pull up that dead shrub:

Yikes....glad no one was hurt.
Also, nice wheels, and I’m jealous of anyone with palm trees in their backyard 🙂
